Phantom Usage, Modum unplugged since December
We have HughesNet Gen5 at a remote cabin and back in December I unplugged our modem and brought it home. Today I logged in to check my bill and noticed there was over 4GB of usage showing this month. I've read plenty of other posts about phantom usage and haven't seen any like my scenario where the modem has been unplugged for months. I emailed tech support (case 110103145) explaining the modem has been unplugged since December and we have usage showing. I received back the most ridiculous cookie cutter reply saying it could be my netflix usage, automatic updates or VOIP. They didn't even read my issue or make any attempt at resolution. Here is a screenshot I just took: Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks8.1KViews1like8CommentsLast month my remaining data increased on certain days?
I became a HughesNet customer / satellite internet user for the first time on April 2nd. For the first 2weeks I had certain days where my remaining data (both Plan Data and Bonus Data) would increase; sometimes back up to the full 20GB on my plan. I've included snap screen pics of my usage history and at the top it says Used but at the bottom it says Remaining (highlighted) for the same #. I didn't understand the calculation process, but the results were sure in my favor. I thought "Wow internet data must stretch longer than mobile data." Come April 17th the usage chart showed we had 20GB of remaining Plan Data. That made me think we could switch down to the 10GB plan. When I did (April 18th) the data ran out in no time - even though we didn't add any devices/services or change our browsing/streaming habits. I called Hughes to find out what had changed to increase the amount of data we were losing daily. Unfortunately the foreign girl I talked to did not understand what I was asking and 45 minutes later I had 3 free data tokens and her brilliant advice to switch my TV from the 2.4G Network to the 5G, but no real answers. By the 23rd we were out of Plan Data. So the beginning of this month I changed back to the 20GB plan. And despite the fact that I REMOVED some devices and RESTRICTED data to certain apps, we ran out on the 11th! I've made some more changes but with such a leak I refuse to buy tokens that might last an hour or 2, so I'm waiting for the 1st when we re-up to see how fast the GB's will go now. This means we've paid for "high speed" internet but since the 12th we've had to use the degraded Data for Dummies speed internet 😒 Can anybody explain this phenomenon?Solved5.7KViews0likes7CommentsNo more hourly usage meter??
I had something eat a good bit of data today, was one of two culprits and depending on time of day I should be able to identify, but I went looking for the hourly meter only to find, seriously, there isn't one anymore? WHY? I downloaded the Usage meter but it doesn't give me what I need. I REALLLY need to know what ate my data allowance today...REALLLY need access to this information... We're supposed to be lulled by the "unlimited" thing I guess, but I need to be able to understand and control what is bleeding out... And I did see a few things on the boards about other apps but honestly it was over my head... Please someone tell me HN didn't get rid of their hourly meter? Thx, IsaSolved4.9KViews0likes5CommentsBandwidth problems.
While watching Amazon on TV, I am getting low bandwidth and I am unable to continue watching. My TV is connected via Wi-Fi My service plan usage has 10%, BUT - bonus zone - has 99% 41.0 MB available. Why won't the usage switch to the bonus zone and let me watch Amazon streaming video?Solved4KViews0likes5CommentsCan't see data usage details
I used to be able to monitor my current data usage. Ever since upgrading to Fusion 100, I can no longer see it online or in the phone app. When I choose Usage > Usage Details, it shows the following: Usage Details An error occurred while checking your plan data. Contact Customer Care at 866-347-3292 or try to revisit this site again later. (error: 500.02.1019) I called the customer care number a few months ago, and no one could help me. They said it was most likely a temporary problem that will be fixed soon. (It hasn't been.)How can I see my current usage? (I've tried a couple of different browsers.)1.1KViews0likes1Comment
