How do i connect a printer?

I have a wireless Brother printer.  The technician thought he'd connected it when he was here, but my computer can't find it.  How do I connect it to the Hughes Net router?

Hello Catherine,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our community. I'd recommend reaching out to Brother on how to connect the printer to your network (HughesNet only provides the modem and internet - not the home networking side or router).

Here's a quick link to their support page: http://www.brother-usa.com/support/

Thank you,
Amanda

As I am in the process of setting up my Hughesnet system, I was going to connect my printer directly to my Hughesnet modem as I have always done.

As the data is only transmitted from the computer to the printer, sattellite data usuage should not be affected.

It is suprising what the sales reps fail to disclouse.

I will keep the group informed, luckily my grandson and good friend are network specialist and thereis always a work around.

What pertinent information is it that the sales reps failed to disclose?

Are you sure you have a HughesNet router?

You should have a HughesNet modem that came with your install.

You may also have a wireless router, usually made by Linksys, D-link, Netgear or Belkin.

The printer would connect to the wireless router, and not the HughesNet modem.

You may need to contact the printer manufacturer since this is their gear, and outside the scope of any settings in the HughesNet modem, or the third-party wireless router you have.

I have a Brother printer and it is pretty easy to connect by wireless if you have a wireless router. The printer should have a menu that will show the address of the printer. Then you can set it up manually in your OS with that address.

By cable is a bit harder on a mult-function printer. The connection on mine is under the scanner, have to lift it up to get to the connector.
