I uncheck the two boxes in Advanced Setup and the Hidden Network still showed, I restarted my Laptop and it wasnt showing.  I went back in and checked the 2 boxes and the Hidden Network showed up again right away.  Then I unchecked them again and restarted my Laptop and it was still showing.   But it does not come up on my tablets.   Kinda strange it wasnt showing one time then the next it did.  Maybe I didnt wait long enough for it to show up the first time.      I dont see any problem with it showing really as long as no one is able to connect to it.   Which when I tried you need to know and manually type the SSID plus know the passcode for the network to connect to it.  So its just as secure as any other network. ... I have the check boxes next to SSID Enable unchecked.  My modem shows State Code 14.2.3 - Both WiFi Radios are off.   So I figured thats all that needed to be done.   The SSID's do not show up as available networks on any of my devices.       I will uncheck the other boxes as well.  ... View more

Just to make note....  I currently have ALL WiFi radios TURNED OFF in my HughesNet modem (always have).   The HiddenNetwork is still being Broadcasted.  So it seams like there is no way to get it to NOT show at all.   I attempted to connect to it by typing my HughesNet modem SSID and Password and it would not connect.  I tried to connect to it using my own router's SSID and Password and it did connect....  Humm  very strange. ... Thank you Liz.     I also want want to add that when watching videos on tumblr they will load and then stop.  When the video gets up to where it stopped buffering it stops playing and won’t load or play for at least a minute.  I don’t know if it’s the tumblr app or if it’s HughesNet.  It has happened multiple times on different occasions.  If I use my cell phone hotspot they seam to load without problem but I haven’t tested it with cell phone as much as I have used HughesNet.    Also just to add to my initial post, when I noticed my connection being lost I was playing on Spades Plus and completely lost connection in the app.  This happened at least twice and I had to switch to my cell hotspot to reconnect.  ... No, I do not reset the modem often.  I did do a reboot from the System Restore Center Tuesday night and also did a reboot Wednesday, I’m pretty sure it was after I did the screenshots but I can’t remember now lol.  Seams like the reboot option did not resolve anything.     You say reset the modem?  Do you mean by using the reset button on the back of the modem? Or just going to the System Restore Center and do the reboot option shown there? ... View more

@Clint23Shannon   If you have your own router I would just use that instead of using the HughesNet Gen5 built in router.   Your router is probably much better than the built in one which is pretty much a low end router.  I am not using the built in router myself. I rather use the router I had previously.  You can keep all your settings within your router, just plug it into the modem and every thing should work as it did before with Gen4.  When you are connected using your previous router go to  System Control Center (type 192.168.0.1 in your web browser address bar).  Go to WiFi settings at the left of the page the default password is admin if you have not changed it, uncheck the box next to SSID Enable under 2.4Ghz and also under 5Ghz.  Clicking save settings after each change.   ... I am not sure if phone support has the ability to send things to the engineers.  The reps here on other hand are able to do so and address the concerns and problems better and quicker than phone support.     I have seen a lot of posts where people have contacted phone support and then come across this community page and post their problem and the problem gets resolved.  I personally will always come here before any other means of customer support.   ... Are you a new customer with HuhesNet or did you have Gen4 service and just upgraded to Gen5?  I know some say upgrading from Gen4 to Gen5 you do not get the relaxed bandwidth period.  With that said, I previously had an older system and upgraded to Gen5 and I got the relaxed bandwidth.  I found mine to reset every 2-4 hours for the first 20 days.  I didn't watch it all day every day but when I would check it was back up to 100% multiple times during a day.  Some times I would use a decent amount of data but never near my 20 GB plan limit.  Also have you checked you system control center to be sure everything is good.     Even if you have used all your monthly data you should still not have any problems or issues using the internet. You should still get 2-3 Mbps download speeds which you are able to do pretty much anything.  It will just take longer for larger downloads to complete.  Some videos might buffer longer.   When I used my 20 GB I was still able to watch videos and download programs at 3 Mbps.   ... I understand all the information you mentioned.   I know my router counts 1 GB as 1024 MB.  But the daily usage shown is under 1 GB so it wouldnt much matter that the one counts GB usage higher than the other until it is over 1 GB.    My problem is Glasswire has been showing much LOWER usage.   Yesterday Glasswire was 165 MB LOWER than my router and other bandwidth meters that I have.   If it keeps showing lower usage, I guess I will have to uninstall and do a full clean install.  Even though I wanted to keep all of the usage data.  But something does not seam right.  ... Glasswire does not seam to be showing the correct usage for my computer.  It shows 71 MB used for today.  My router is showing my computer used 234 MB.  This is a big difference.  I have noticed Glasswire not being right for a while now, only showing a few MB of usage for a day when I know I used more.   I have it set to show External Only (this is correct right?) I checked Internal and that shows only 30 MB.    Anyone else seeing low usage on Glasswire?   Any suggestions to how to get it working?   (I did check the website and downloaded the updated version) ... I figured I would try to completely restore my router to see if that would help.  I used the default WiFi settings with the default SSID and a random password.  I did a few speed tests and they all seamed higher.  I was entering quota limits for all my devices from a screenshot prior to restore and ended up having to restore to a backup file which I made before restoreing the router because I did not reconize a MAC address.  Speed tests are back in the 20's.  After I get everything wrote down I am going to do another complete restore and then manually enter everything and hopefully my speeds are all higher.    Check out this speed test that I got.....   ... I did not notice anything here either.  My signal strength is still in the low 100's normally.  I wish I could get it up a little higher, but have not tried to and afraid to mess with adjusting the dish.  But 100 does sound a bit low esp when others are seeing higher.  I feel mine should be also.  ... So,  I am still confused with my speeds and how to set up my Router.  I tried changing the channel (I tried channel 11 and then 7).  The first speed test I do will have faster speeds but then if I retest 30 seconds later the speeds drop to around 25 Mbps.  If I dont make any changes to my router settings but just click save my first speed test is fast and then 30 seconds later slower.   I tried the built in Router and speeds stayed above 38 Mbps.   I tried turning off all Radios in my router but one and still got the same results.    My router only has the following Encryption modes WPA2 PSK  --  WPA PSK  --  and WEP......    I assume WPA2 PSK is what I should use? ... I randomly check for updates and do the anti-virus updates when they show if no other updates are available.  If there are other updates, I open Windows Defender and download the updates from the program its self.  This only downloads the update for Defender and no others.  I am not sure if you are still able to do the update within the new Defender program in Creator Update (1703). I also got details from someone where I can set a Scheduled Task to have ONLY Windows Defender update at a certain time each day.  Only thing with this is it only allowed me to do update at one specific time each day (I tried other settings but from what I noticed they didnt work)   So if there are multiple updates in a day or an update after the set Scheduled Task you wont get the update til the next day.  But this way at least Defender is being updated daily instead of not at all.   ... From what I have read the pauseing feature should be 35 days.  It didnt say anything about anything less.  It seams like a stupid feature to begin with,  WHY would someone pause updates for 35 days!!  From what it sounds after the set amount of days it will download the updates.  Just sounds stupid.  Maybe you should do a post on Microsoft's community to find why your one system is only 7 days.  I know I would probably never use the feature either but dont sound right for it to be different.   I would imagine it would count down the days if you pause the updates, but I dont believe you had them paused, plus you havent had 1703 installed 28 days.  ... My second month of Gen5 just started yesterday and I am not really liking the monthly limits.  With having kids under 17 here usage gets used fast... If the data is there they will use it, and dont realize or understand how much is being used and how much should be getting used.  At least the speeds are decent after going over the monthly usage.  In just 1 and a half days I am already down to 88% (2.4 GB / 20 GB) Anytime and 92% (4.2 GB / 50 GB) Bonus.  My nephews Playstation must still have alot of updates that are being downloaded.   I still dont like the 50 GB 2-8 usage,  with as many devices and all that will be used in no time.  I dont see any reason to upgrade to the 30 GB plan being the Bonus data is still only 50 GB.  I feel the Bonus data should go up with each plan.  10 GB plan should have 50 GB bonus,  20 GB should be around 75,  30 GB should be 75-100 GB.  ... When I had my Legacy plan (HN9000 modem on the Spaceway 3 Satellite)  Windows Updates would download but very slowly,  they would download a few seconds and stop for about 30 seconds to a min, only downloading a few MBs at a time.  Would take hours just to download updates,  Let alone a full Windows 10 download lucky if it finished within the 5 hour unlimited usage time frame that I had some times would have to pause or turn on Metered Connection to have the download stop and hope it continues the next night.   I upgraded to Gen5 for the faster speeds and to be able to use the internet after going over my data limit (with my old plan I had 375 MB of data per day and if that was used there was no access to internet).    I was amazed as to how fast Windows Updates now download using Gen5.      I think its the higher delay that causes the problems,  Microsoft must have their servers set real low.  The slightly lower delay with Gen5 makes a BIG difference.   I think these problems should be taken to Microsoft instead of HughesNet... (I dont blame Gen4 or ES-17 - being I had the problem with Spaceway 3 as well). ... View more
