Great suggestions Katie and a good announcement! Hope it stays up for awhile. I have a router which tracks usage per device but the apps are a free or low cost option. Am I right in saying that those only track what is being used on the device they are installed to? In other words if installed on a laptop it would track the usage on it but not on a tablet using the wireless router also,

First time I ever heard of the lease fee being added into the ETF. They may not charge you anything as long as you return the modem and radio from the dish. Especially since you are moving to a place that doesn't allow it. Have seen them ask for some kind of proof though, not saying they will but maybe. Good luck!

Charles, was very early this morning (around midnight) when it went down and is now back for most it seems. Don't know if it was out for everyone though.You may have slept through it. 🙂 Katie did post an announcement and now it is gone. That is a bit disturbing.

Good advise! The wires in LAN cables are very small and very brittle, doesn't take much bending or constant stress for them to break and make intermittent connection.

Clouds and light rain should not affect your system. If they do, you have a problem. And put more simply, the limits are there to keep people from going hog wild and dragging down the entire system so nobody can use it. People nowadays think modern technology is capable of anything but it isn't. It does have limits.

Pia, I honestly think the majority have good, reasonably decent service. If not HughesNet would surely be out of business by now and wouldn't be planning on launching a new satellite. No, it will never be like cable/fiber and have seemingly limitless data caps. Severe thunderstorms and heavy snowfall will knock it out. It definitely has its unique flaws but I'm glad it is available or else I would have nothing. This was unsolicited also although. I, and few other customers, do visit here frquently and try to help people when I can. Guess that's obvious with so many posts. 🙂

Probably copied previous offer and didn't update the expiration date. Pretty sure it is supposed to say the end of this month if they just sent it out. Minor mistake compared to things that really count.
