Hmm, have you thought about trying to pull the BeamID and Satellite ID from the modem it self, then add a field to request "real" latency from a webservice? Also, mind if I either jack your script and put it on my site, or link to that script from my site?

Sometimes I feel like I should pay you to do this stuff for me 😛 I actually found my old .htaccess file that I was using long ago that had a list of browsers and other things that should be blocked, ended up being able to salvage that 😄

Well, ended up going with ubuntu, spent pretty much the last week trying to figure things out and get it going again. I swear to god, whoever decided to move things from one location to another, but also keep the old file in the old location with settings that are 100% ignored, and makes no mention of having to make those settings elsewhere, should be shot. Took me 3 days to figure out why the absolute **bleep** .htaccess was being ignored with AllowOverride All set in the website config... Oh, no, in Apache2 "we moved that setting to Apache2.conf, but we left the old entry in 000-default.conf because we was too lazy to remove it, heck, we was too lazy to notify you!". All that aside, the website is back, database migration was a headache as the latest MySQL wasn't in the repository and urgh. That was a fun thing to find out! I swear, people gripe about Windows, but when you sit there and go, "wait, what? why do I have a 6 year old friggen package installed and not the latest?" just because some maintainer or developer hasn't updated a repository since before the release of the OS version you're running... ARGH, anyways, back to life I go. -sneaks back into the shadows-

I would go Linux, but, the way the site is setup makes that a pain... I have been using LetsEncrypt, and they have an auto-update function for Windows ISS that updates the certs before they expire. I also have a few hidden directories that only I and certain friends can access for... sharing enjoyable retro things which is located on a shared drive, and I have zero idea how to do that under any linux distro. The first time I setup the website was on Ubuntu and quickly went windows for ease of use.

Please refrain from sharing links to my website for articles that may assist others. With Win7 support ending (yeah, who runs a webserver on Win7...), I have to disable my server effective tonight, till I have a chance to move to another OS. It will probably be some time before I can make the move due to work. Couldn't really explain the difference, aside from the fact that the lower result used the automated test size instead of a manual selection. You tested at 963Kbps with a download size of 83.9MB on the slower one. However, on the 30Mbps it appears you selected 25MB Manual... https://testmy.net/compID/13028945802972

The prepaid/free tokens are generally only seen on HN7000/9000 systems, with so few users on such systems now, it would make sense to bump the allotment up.

Your service plan cost will remain the same, unless you change your service plan. Be aware if you change your plan to something else, your old one may not be available to you anymore. The only time costs will change is from plan changes, token purchases, or other services you might add or cancel.

Did you check the cables outside to make sure they dont have any water penetration, and that they are snug? Did lighting by change strike near by? 2.1.1 means your in door unit can't communicate with the outdoor unit.

Sadly, due to the latency of Satellite Internet, micro-cells like what you have typically will not work. You also can't open or forward TCP or UDP ports as you are behing CGN (Carrier Grade Nat). If you hooked it up and it's not working, there's not really anything that can be done. If you have a small somewhat weak signal outside, you might want to look into trying a Cellular Signal Booster such as the weBoost Home 4G 470101 Cell Phone Signal Booster

Sorry, but it's standard practice for large companies to issue credit towards an account instead of a refund. This happened to me with Hughesnet, AT&T, DirecTV and Primestar (that's an oldie!), and none of them would issue refunds to my bank account but would instead issue service credit towards the monthly bill. Sorry, but you are stuck with having credits placed on your account.

Never move a satellite dish without first contacting the company responsible for the dish. The best information I can give you for that is to navigate to the Advanced page of your HT2000w, click Installation, then click Install, and do a Re-Install... That is the only way to get "real-time" numbers, which are still delayed by just a few seconds. However, I highly suggest not doing this... Whether you point at the right satellite to get a signal is up in the air. Even if you manage to point at the right one, if you mess up your LAT/LONG entries, or if your HT2000w was setup with a beam over-ride then it still wont work. There are also SBC Config files that *might* need updating on your terminal that only a technician can do.

Ehh, BBS/Forums have been around a long time, that was the "Social Media" before the likes of FB, Myspace, and god knows what else came along with the creation of smartphones. I would gladly go back to old school forums, but even those had likes/dislikes if it was coded in back in the late 90's and early 00's.

I ended up writing a short article and batch file for this issue, got tired of people complaining about it... Batch file does it for you the fastest, just a quick run as administrator, and it will remove the files for ya. Really shouldn't even need to run it as an administrator. If you are going to hook a generator up to your home, then do it right. It's against every single code in the book to do what you have described, it's also very dangerous. There is a reason that there are special disconnects that are REQUIRED by NEC, local codes, and individual utility companies now for when someone feeds a home with a generator through a main or sub panel. Too many people forget what order to flip the breakers and it can cause serious injury to linemen if someone forgets to kill the main, it has happened more than once.

Leave it enabled if you are using IPv6, as all IPv6 addresses are supposedly routable. @MarkJFine wrote: Think they just included it because it was part of the router firmware. You will have to call Hughesnet Billing at 866-347-3292 and request to be placed on Invoice Billing and to be taken off of autopay. There will be an additional "fee" when you go to paper billing as it's not the normal procedure and it's seen as a discount when we are on autopay service since people aren't having to manually print each persons bill and send it out. I *THINK* you can stick with autopay and request your bill date to be changed once, but a Hughesnet Rep will need to clarify whether that is possible now in days.
