It's good now Re: modem issue Corrosive - I am able to get in to the modem on the device, is what I was saying Re: modem issue can't check until tonight. is there a reset procedure if it's working straight off the modem? Re: modem issue yes, i was able to get in. i may also mention, this is an issue on my router as well as the hughesnet built in router modem issue My modem and router got unplugged in order to move them and now I can't go to some websites on certain devices like a cell phone. I have another computer on Windows 10 that works fine and one on Windows 8 that doesn't also. I'm on the Gen5 modem, I've unplugged it over night and it still doesn't work right. Any other options to reset it or does something need to be done on Hughesnet side? SolvedRe: Slow speeds only in prime time hours Amanda has been working on my issue behind the scenes, so I thought I'd come on and mention that we are working through it. The result is that I'll be switching to Gen 5 on a lower data plan than what I currently have. With the compression of data on streaming that is used on Gen 5, I should be able to stay within the 30g. Even if I go over 30g the throttled speed is better than what I have today so it's a no-brainer. thanks Amanda! Re: Slow speeds only in prime time hours Amanda???? Haven't heard from you since Feb 10, your response was: Good morning dhorwath, Just a heads up, the engineer on your case provided an update. He let me know that there is a planned expansion in the next 2-3 weeks for your beam. This will provide a lot of relief for the night time speeds which will continue all the way up until we release Gen5 Is anything further being done on my beam? Can I move to Gen 5 at the same cost i have with Gen 4? The minions have put me in a bad mood, I'm wanting to hear from you Re: Slow speeds only in prime time hours Mr. Corrosive, Overselling the network is understandable, as you say. I can accept the fact that it is going to happen. Glad to hear that Hughesnet is making profits. The thing that makes me frustrated is that they have a new satellite. Those of us that have had speed issues for 5+ months in my case, should automatically get moved to it and not expect to pay more or start over on a contract. Seems reasonable to me. If I was getting the speeds that you are, you never would have seen or heard from me at all. I would have been happy with my service and renewing it at the end of 2 years. I'm not one of those nerd types sitting around in my boxers all day checking in on bulletin boards and coming down on others. Until you have gone 5+ months with 1mg or less speed after expecting at least 15 or 60% of 15 at night which is what I was sold, you have nothing to bring to the post I started back in January. Re: Slow speeds only in prime time hours ok I thought this was a forum where problems can be solved, maybe it's not. I've heard plenty from those on this board that choose to post in defense of the Hughesnet company, and it's your perogative to post here. However, I'm more interested in what the admins like Amanda and Liz have to say about my issue and with what can be done. I don't know if you're having the same issue as I am, but for me, I am beyond frustrated to be locked into a 2 year commitment where the company has not held up their end of the bargain. Re: Slow speeds only in prime time hours I called and they were only able to get me on Gen5 for a higher cost, and under a new contract that starts over for another 2 years. The 50g plan becomes $99.99 a month plus $14.99 equipment lease for the first year, then $129.99 a month plus equipment for the 2nd year. reference # 103225893 This is not acceptable, I am willing to pay the amount I originally contracted for with Gen 4. If in order to get the speed I was promised means putting me on Gen 5 or if it means that engineers need to fix my current service, I do not feel that I need to pay any more out of pocket to get what was promised. I feel like this is classic bait and switch, and that a lawyer would take up a lawsuite on something like this.
