Make sure you are not connecting over the Guest Wifi network... It's best if you are direct wired to make these changes.

Not sure... Chromecast is one of those things that uses another device to get streaming content, so it should be limited depending on the content being streamed.

Yeah, that's the NOR gateway if I am not mistaken, looking at the weather maps it looks like there was possibly some bad weather in that region today around that time. After a short while if the modem can't get connection to the gateway it will give up on transmitting data and wait for the recieve data to come back before it starts transmitting again. It's also possible there was a gateway issue, or one really strange modem issue... As far as software updates go, any time you reboot these modems in any way, they will go through a software update. Good luck, and stay safe!!! These dishes are rated to withstand some high winds, but not hurricane force winds. If your service is out, it could take some time before an installer can ever get to your location and do a repoint.

Topics similar to this are fairly popular on other websites, so I figure why not start one here? Post up a picture of your home cooked meals, either complete, or in the process of being cooked! This might start up an interesting conversation such as sharing cooking tips, as well as meals others might enjoy. Guess I shall start? Tonights dinner is Steak, mashed taters (instant, sue me, i'm lazy, added pepper and garlic powder), and sliced tomatoes from our garden.

@jrgarrett - ...I hope you realize that if you was a lease customer and didn't return your equipment that you will be charged unreturned equipment fees, and if Hughesnet can''t collect said fees, they will send your account to collections. Also, in some areas, that can be considered destruction of private property as you do not own said equipment and knowingly destroyed it (sending it off in the trash) when it's supposed to be returned. ------------------------------ @chaquita16 - You agreed to the 2-year Subscriber Agreement, which stipulates that at any time you cancel service, even after the 2 years has been exhausted, that you will return the Hughesnet Modem, Power Brick, and the ODU (Radio on dish arm). Hughesnet doesn't go changing prices, they offer promotions to make signup for service cheaper for a period of time, once that time period has expired, the price will go to the normal full price. If you have issues with your bill, I suggest looking at it in an itemized fashion by clicking My Account > My Bill at the top.

As I stated in another topic in reply to your post, that is the corporate number, it's not meant to be used as a support number, and certainly doesn't take you directly to the CEO. The moderators that work on this website on weekdays are corporate employees.

Wifi Routers and Access Points will broadcast 24/7 unless you have the ability to progam in a schedule (which the HT2000w does NOT support), or manually disable each Wifi Radio in the advanced menu. Having your computer connected and going to sleep will not disable, nor does it enable the Wifi Radios on your HT2000w.

That whole RetroPI thing was another project I was wanting to do. Would make excellent gifts for people for Christmas that don't have technical knowledge, couldn't get a Classic NES last christmas, and that LOVE "retro" gaming.

Depending on wall construction, as well as distance and frequency in use, a signal loss of 50% through one wall wouldn't be abnormal for any Wireless AP. I would probably go with a repeater in your situation.

If a strike was close enough to damage the ODU, and you can't get to the SCC anymore, then 99.999% chance all equipment will require replacement, including the coax, but that''s just my opinion. To me, if a strike fries the modem, chances are it damaged the coax. If the other lights aren't lit, chances are the only diagnostics that a rep will be able to perform would be based on system diagnostics uploaded prior to service degredation.

Your device may not support the Wifi Encryption method the HT2000w uses by default, this could be due to the age of the device, or software of the device. In the case of a Wireless adapter for your computer, please make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You can usually download the drivers from the manufacture of your computer, or of the wireless adapter. To change from the default WPA2 AES encryption method to WPA/WPA2 TKIP+AES mode, please follow the steps below. 1: In your browser go to http://systemcontrolcenter.com or http://192.168.0.1 2: On the left hand side, click on "Wifi Settings" 3: You will be presented with a logon screen, the default password is admin 4: Select either 2.4Ghz, 2.4Ghz Guest, 5Ghz, or 5Ghz Guest, which ever network your device is trying to connect to 5: Select the WPA Mode and set to WPA/WPA2 - the Cipher Suite should change from AES to TKIP+AES 6: Click Save Settings 7: Try to reconnect your device using the proper password for the wifi network.

I live pretty darned close to the path of totality, it was pretty darned dim at ~97%, dropped about 10F too. Camera tricks usually only work if they have a UV lense or ability to filter UV out in the software, otherwise it just gets overwhelmed. Because of the apparent $1 glasses going for $1000 on ebay, I ended up going with the shoebox method.... I bet if you put a piece of thin paper in front of the camera to block the "rays" of light, it would have taken a better picture.

To help the Hughesnet Customer Service Reps get a head start on your speed concerns, you should create a testmy.net account and perform 3-5 tests during different parts of the day. Then share the account results link with us here. Please keep in mind that Hughesnet will only accept testmy.net and the official Hughesnet speed test results. Tests from other sites like speedtest.net are not accepted due to the compression technologies and latency that satellite deploys. Most important points to remember during this test: -do the tests while directly connected to the HughesNet modem with a LAN cable (NO third party Router or Wireless devices can be used) -use the 25MB size download test file -If testing upload instead of download, you must use a 4MB size upload test file -space each test at least 5 minutes apart -post your results URL here, it may look something like http://testmy.net/quickstats/C0RR0SIVE For a more in depth guide on running the tests, please visit: http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx The Reps are on M-F from approximately 8AM to 5PM Eastern. They will be the ones to address your speed issues, but they will need these tests to do so.
