Here is a link I ran across on dlsr that I thought was worth sharing:. This is a useful reminder to both novice as well as experienced users alikeso please take a moment to read it in its entirety: The digital age is upon us. As much as it has blessed us and made collaboration and work easier, faster and more efficient, it also has its downsides. A lot of damage can be done by someone in a remote village over the internet. Cybercriminals carefully exploit loopholes to steal information and perform unauthorized transactions across devices and applications that are not secured enough. This article aims to serve as a personal information security identity guide for you, family and friends. Follow this guide and keep your family and friends safe from cybercriminals this season! .............. https://auth0.com/blog/personal-information-security-identity-guide/14KViews2likes5CommentsHome Video Streaming
I am currently using Plex to stream movies from my digital library on my desktop computer. I know that Plex does use some data over the internet while playing even though the video files are all on my side of the modem. What do other people use to do the same thing? Before we went with Hughesnet, we had DSL service. We averaged 12gigs of data a month. At that time my wife was also running a business from home and used Office online to work and store her files so that they were avialable while outside our home. Now we have the 10 gig service and are constantly going over our limit with over a week to go in the monthly allotment. So if there is a platform I can use which doesn't communicate over the internet while watching my own digital files I would like to switch to it.13KViews0likes4CommentsPlayOn Cloud question...
If I want to record programs to the cloud, then download them within seven days, I don't need the monthly plan, right? I can just purchase recording credits. Is this correct? Is a monthly cloud plan needed only if I want to keep the recordings in cloud storage for longer than seven days? So, basically, I download the app to my phone and buy some recording credits (or vice versa), then set it up to record what I want, then download the recordings when I get the email link(s), and the only thing I need to purchase for this is the recording credits, NOT a monthly cloud plan, right? And I just need to make sure that I download the items within seven days from when they're recorded? Thanks for the help.Solved13KViews0likes5CommentsDISH & HBO.. still **bleep** fighting. Will a streaming device help reduce buffering on HBO GO
Hi, Ive been down the Google rabbithole many times with the constant buffering issue that's been a problem since day 1 with Hughes net. It's now a big issue for me as Dish and HBO don't seem to want to resolve their contract issue so my only other option to watch HBO is thru the HBO app.. because of the rural area I live in I get stuck paying for crappy service often. I will flip my **bleep** if I can't watch GOT without the constant buffering so will a streaming device help much if any or I'm gonna make that call to direct..that's my only option. I understand I made the choices and still do so I'm not complaining anymore.. I just need someone to give me advice that is smarter than me about this stuff12KViews0likes6CommentsRoku can limit your bandwidth usage...
This is something I don’t think you can do with competing set top boxes - specifiy a maximum connection speed for streaming video. Could be very useful (and I’ve confirmed it works with a latest-gen Roku stick...) https://www.howtogeek.com/289289/how-to-limit-bandwidth-usage-on-your-roku/12KViews4likes1CommentForgot your HughesNet Password?
