Nothing but problems
Ive had Hughesnet for 12 years now and it has been nothing but problems. If its not super slow internet its not working at all. Ive had probably 10 technicians come out and not be able to fix anything. Finally they moved my dish and it helped for a few months. Then right back to problems. Ive probably spent over 24 hours on the phone with support trying to hear and understand what their saying through their thick accents from India or Mexico. My internet connection has been down for weeks now. A tech came out and it worked for maybe an hour or two and now its down again. He says its working even when I send him a pic of my wifi saying its not. The next day he sends me 3 pics of everyone else's internet saying the same thing. They charge $73 for slow broken internet with barely any data per month and when it breaks constantly they expect you to pay extra to get it fixed. Thats ridiculous!! If you pay for working internet and it doesn’t work, you shouldn't be charged because they can’t hold up their end of the deal. I move out April 1st and I pray I never have to use Hughesnet ever again. They suck all around all the time. i play last chaos by gamigo it works on usa site and on world servers. didnt think it would be ok but was surprised when i had no problem playing. it is a several gig download. the game is a medieval type with knights titans sorcerers healers witches rogues ive been playing it since 2011. on dsl that got too expensive.now have no problem with it1.7KViews1like0CommentsTerrible Internet!!!
I’ve had this internet for about 3 months now and it is the worst internet I’ve ever had!!! It is a complete scam! 20gb!?! Really!!?! I know you can buy tokens but that is a **bleep**ing joke! Every other Internet I’ve ever had has no restrictions or stupid plans like this! I will be canceling mine as soon as spring comes so I can get something that actually works dug in! Definitely been having some issues with slow speed during certain times of the day. I live in the mountains of Colorado and I’m used to around 1mbps with my standard non satellite service. Below that is not acceptable. My modem is new, my dish is unobstructed, and I have remaining data. Also the weather is clear. If you’re facing slow internet with all the same variables do what I did! Call the support line 866 347 3292. If you can’t bother with a robot like me, immediately start saying “Technical Support” in a clear voice until it recognizes the command. It will give you a list of prompts and you can say “slow internet”. Then they connect you to some poor person who has to bare the frustration of someone who is having their internet throttled. Please be kind,Be patient with them, answer their questions and watch your internet speed return to a sub optimal speed. I suspect that the bandwidth Hughes net can afford to offer its customers can’t possibly be 25mbps to all customers simultaneously. I assume this is a infrastructure issue on their end. Okay, this is probably going to be a stupid, non-answerable question, but it is one I am struggling to answer. So am looking for opinions. The sattelite I am on has really good speed, but horrid latency. 4 seconds, 10 seconds, 44 seconds. (I made a thread about this some time ago) HughesNet was kind enough to give me a bigger dish in the hope that it would solve the problem. It didn't. Of course, it did seem to solve the problem when the tech was there, and when I ran the test when he was there. But after he left and more testing, the problem resurfaced. Some of the work I do requires me to have better latency than that. Satellite latency is okay, but not this multi-second latency. An option is to move me back to the other satellite. It is overloaded and the speeds are not good in the evening, but the latency is better. Assuming it isn't too overloaded. Question: Should I ask HughesNet if they will move me back to the other satellite with better latency (but slower speeds), a cost I will have to pay for. Or should I wait the six months when Starlink will open up their public beta, which I have a chance of getting in to since I am in the area they are going to want for the beta (high northern US)?8.5KViews0likes4CommentsLatency Or Satellite Shortcomings?
There is all this talk of distance affecting latency which doesn't seem to wash. If the signal has to travel 88,000 miles latency shouldn't be an issue when the speed of light is considered. Traveling at 186,000 miles per second translates to 1,116,0000 miles per HOUR . In less than 1 second a packet of data will travel to the gateway and back 2 twice with time to spare. So why am I having such poor latency? Can it be the Hughsnet hardware? I know the satellite can only handle a certain amount of client connections, requests and transmissions. If to many client requests are active they're then refused and the client modem has to resend the packet resulting in latency. Either that or the satellite holds those requests in a buffer which causes increased latency. My question arose from the fact that my latency great improves at night. Usually 3 am to about 6 am. I assume that there is much less traffic at that time so the satellite immediately processes the packet instead of a refusal or buffering action. Today is like a Birthday, TodayI cut all ties to HughesNet.Although I can part ways AND maybe help others ( Maybe ), So after 2 year contract andseveral calls toHughesnet to help or fix my horrible net, I learned some or most of my problem while watching the other company install my new net, = The dish was loss , the dishwasn't grounded right and the cable from the dish to the housewasn't on all the way. would this had fixed myproblem's ? Maybe.. And none the less wascustomer service when i called to cancel , I may had stayed withHughesNet had I known about the new Gen5 system along with the sloppy install. MAYBE.
