Flashing 'phone' icon on the Hughesnet Voice box - what does that mean?
Unfortunately, I do not have access to a phone.
If I contact someone by email and they give a call in, can the people manning the customer service number see this forum to get details? After all the issue is about the phone being out.
Anyone care to help a fellow out?
I have no idea how to help you with your issue, or I gladly would. Are you able to make phone calls from a neighbor's house? Or are you able to have someone come to your house and use their phone to call Hughesnet?
Also, have you looked to see if there are other internet service providers you could use? This might become very important very soon.

There is a live chat from the my.hughesnet.com page on the upper-right. I was able to contact someone through that.
Why look into other service providers when I just got the phone ATA box with a 24 month period? It worked great since July - I suspect it was just the lighting storm the night before that maybe damaged the telephone jack somehow (although the modem and all were fine?!?)
Is there something you heard? Is it connected to not having anyone look through the forum at least MWF?
The ATA box exchanges data like it always did - just now there is no dial tone and the phone icon light is flashing.
It still refreshes every 24 hours by itself - looks to send/receive some packets - just the phone line is dead. As they see it they think it is operational - but we went through everything on the chat. So I expect they will call someone I know in 24-48 hours after engineering reviews
BTW - I tried having someone I know call them for me but they want to talk directly to me which is impossible - even though I could chat with that other person....
It would be a good idea to show the chat from this forum - or at least mention it as this is under support and the chat looks like it is for sales or something....

Did you get anywhere with chat? I hope someone could help you.
As for what I heard, there have been news in Maryland newspapers about the layoffs at Hughesnet HQ. Given that the mods here disappeared about 2 months ago, I believe they were laid off along with all the other layoffs at HQ. If memory serves, at least 300 people were laid off. HQ is in bankruptcy at the moment, and has lost a very large number of subscribers to Starlink. They're restructuring their business to move away from household internet, so it is very likely that they will eventually close those offerings altogether. Right now I would tell people not to sign up with Hughesnet, because they're in transition and may not be around for household consumers for very long.

I had not heard - I just got the phone service back in July when the folks were still here.
The phone worked great until it went out (I can only suppose that the lighting storm got it somehow but not sure how)
I went with this phone as the landline is failing and the google phone is near useless here and I can't get it working now and those suckers are crazy expensive.
Hughesnet always seems to work and I figured if the internet was up then the phone would be up - but I think maybe the ATA is delicate or something?
Maybe best to be sure it is unplugged if a storm comes up?
Yeah I got through with the chat link I found on the my.hughesnet.com page.
