UPNP ISSUE
This may be a silly question, but: Did you enable UPnP on your wifi?
1. Using a browser on the network, go to http://192.168.42.1 (has to be http, not https, so Firefox may not work. Latest Firefox wants everything to be https and will relentlessly try to convert it 🤷♂️).
2. Login to the wifi settings (default password is just 'admin' if you haven't changed it).
3. Select the Advanced options, then select UPnP towards the bottom.
4. Check the box and click Save.
You should now have UPnP enabled.
That said, I have an XBox 360. I've never really needed it to be operational and have been able to use XBox Live, although I've never played anything PvP through it.
If you are trying to play PvP games, standard satellite may be too laggy, since the fastest possible ping time is something like 500mS. You may want to look into upgrading to Fusion, which augments satellite with wireless technology to significantly reduce the lag.

That's probably the answer. Interestingly, I don't have a UPnP option in my advanced settings. Edit: MarkJFine , Damian , GabeU , Remy , do any of you know why I can't see the UPnP option? Is it because I still have Gen5?

That's weird. I have a HT3000 now and it was also on my HT2000.

Very odd.

any router, is most part exactly the same. maybe menus different in were it is located. but pretty much one router is same as other router, to same functionality. meaning look up any random router manual and you should get same like abilities and names on any other router. ya not much actually has changed in the last 25 plus years for routers, besides them getting faster, and bigger/larger range for connections, maybe usb plug being added to them. and most routers use some form, of opensource firmware and just insert there name, and change looks for their company, beside tossing in newer version of software.
WHY ABOVE? because you get to play firewall game and router game. yep yep!
cheapest most ugly way, is a DMZ (DeMoralized zone) (ya i like de moralized better) it tosses what ever you assigned to it, out away from the firewall and all the other stuff and puts it out there unprotected on the internet, and gives internet a by-pass directly to what ever. if it works that way, then you most likely messed up a setting in the routers firewall or what ever xbox,playstation,pc,laptop,tablet,etc... firewall software they might have. (this should be in lan or firewall, but sometimes located in actual "settings for router itself). DO NOT USE THIS!, yes check if it works, if it works, turn it off, and take your time to actually use correct settings without using this. AND YES you need to turn it off, before you start checking if you have settings correct without needing it.
UPNP = some were in the menus = this is half saying start going through menus. it is in there some were. about 20 to 30 menus / pages to go through. and you should not need to turn something else on/off for it to be viewable on some page. though it might be hidden by some "rule" or "exception" or "include" for something. (this is me saying huh? what were they thinking? on some things...ya *my own complaining*) (should be firewall maybe LAN)
if you see a setting, that assigns some machine the same IP address based on MAC address in the router. that might help you, figure things out else were. any time your machine starts up, upgrades, etc... it will always have same IP address. (DNS or LAN)
as for specific game or like, ports and rules that is a good blamn game to go see the game company and have them spend money on helping you with support telling what is needed, then sending you back to router company of how to setup those ports and/or rules. (firewall, and/or routing in your case)
and watch me completely be wrong in specific locations up above, and you need the "firewall" and " router" games of going through each menu/page.

I did go through the menus....can't find the darn thing. Will keep trying, even though I don't need this particular setting. I'm curious, though.

Disregard the 'http using Firefox' comment. Turns out I didn't have Local Network access turned on for Firefox nor Chrome, and anything attempting to go to 192.168.42.* was getting blocked (but not 192.168.0.* or 192.168.10.*, which is very interesting).
