Re: Massive Data Loss in just a few days

Hi,

We have used 77% of our 20G in 11 days.

Does anyone know if these same issues could be happening with Dish as well as DirecTv?

Thanks!

I recently had the same problem. ALL of my data for the month was quickly consumed, including the bonus bytes. I started disconnecting devices and finally discovered it was my laptop. It was Google Drive Backup and Sync that was trying to back up an old, unused work folder. Some reason (but I have a hint why) the app would begin the sync, get part way through, fail and then reattempt. Continuously.

Very likely -- if your Dish is connected to the internet, then it may be pulling data and may be responsible for your data drain.  If there's a way to disconnect it, you should try it, or you can change the network password so it can't access the network.  That will tell you if Dish is the culprit.

Though I haven't seen it mentioned nearly as much with Dish, it's entirely possible.  Like suggested by maratsade, try disconnecting it for while and see what happens.   If you're still seeing data being drawn at a high rate you'll know it's not the Dish receiver.  That, in itself, will help, as in process of elimination, as that's what it often takes to find a data chewing culprit.
