When I signed up for HughesNet last November, the salesman promised (yeah, I know) that the 10gb anytime allowance would double and speeds would increase after the first of the year, with the launch ...

The upgrade to Gen5 isn't something that is automatic.  It's something you have to actively pursue yourself.

Check https://www.hughesnet.com/ .  Input your address to see what is available in your area.

Keep in mind, too, that not all beams are active right now, so if there is nothing available for you now that doesn't mean there may not be something in the very near future.  You can also call and ask, and I would recommend doing so, even if all plans are listed as available now.  Use the phone number on that website.

As for what's required and what it costs to upgrade, the pricing isn't the same for every situation.  Plus, being that you are currently in a contract and are fairly new, that may change the situation, as well.  Also, most likely, what be required is a dish repoint and a new modem.   With that said, depending on your location, that may even be different.  The prices and process are not the same for any and every situation.

Again, though, you should go to that site and check out what's available in your area at this time.  Then, even further, you should call the number and ask what it would cost and require.

    Good luck.
