If you'd like help finding a solution to your streaming problems, please post under Tech Support. If you're just complaining to let everyone know you're unhappy or because you want to vent, there may not be much anyone can do for you. It's up to you to be proactive about your system and find solutions to its problems. *I am not a Hughesnet employee; I'm a customer, just like you.

Every ISP out there does the same -- it's called customer retention and it's an established practice that's not unique to Hughesnet. If you weren't able to cancel your service, you will need to try calling again.

I've been googling around to see if iI could find out, without much success though." People are on different "beams." I'm on Beam 68, for example. I'm not sure if there's a reliable map anywhere. What they're going to do is probably deploy a fix to the system that handles your "beam."

You agreed to a contract -- you ended it early, you had to pay a fine. This is normal with ISPs. Your experience sounds very negative, but many customers have a very good experience. If you're out of the game, you should go complain elsewhere, as this is a support site for those who wish to fix whatever issues they may have. It is not a site for whining. Enjoy your next ISP (it's likely you will have issues too, as none of them are issue-free).

If you're looking for apps for a mobile device (iPhone, iPad), you should go to the App Store and search for download manager. That annoys me too, because I use characters. I don't know why some places don't allow them. I know nothing about this stuff, so I wonder, is it more expensive or cumbersome to the site to allow long passwords and the use of characters? @GabeU wrote: . It is a private site, so they can forbid whatever words they want. Also, the type of action you were writing about is not allowed by Hughesnet (or Xfinity, or Verizon, or American Express, or many, many others -- Hughesnet was not even the first company to come up with the idea). Binding arbitration is now pretty much standard and is what you get if you have a grievance.
