I'm sure one of the mods will address your issue when they come back. Same thing happenning to me, I called and cancalled and still have not received the email I was told I would receive and also did not give me a cancellation number.

Since you wrote that you ran out of your 10GB allowance, I thought maybe you needed to buy a larger allowance. 50GB is currently the max (and it's not even available everywhere), and this has to do with the satellite technology being limited -- the available bandwidth has to be divided up among the number of subscribers, and the company manages the network and the broadband availability to provide bandwidth to customers in a fair and equitable manner. 50GB is currently the maximum amount of bandwidth any subscriber can get. This is just the way it is. If it's not enough for you, you may want to shop around for something that is, or you can also learn how to budget your allowance. Many of us budget the amount of data we get and make do with what we get, accepting the limitations of the technology as it currently stands. Sure, we all want to control how we spend our money, and guess what, you already have that control. You are not obligated to pay into a system that doesn't work for you. Having Hughesnet is not mandatory. Satellite internet is a limited resource -- users need to adapt their ways to the available technology and not expect the technology will bend to their whims and wishes. It just can't do that with the current state of the technology. I'm sure the company will be glad to hear your ideas; they're always open to suggestions. Why don't you turn off the modem before you go to bed? No power, no data usage. (Just make sure to turn it off by disconnecting it from the wall or power strip or similar).

I'm able to stream Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime most of the time, unless there's a lot of congestion (which happens sometimes in the evenings). Keep in mind though, that while this can be done, it's more challenging on satellite because the broadband is limited and satellite internet has a lot of latency (due to the laws of physics, so the latency can't be reduced with current technology). You can cancel any time, but after the system has been installed, you'd have to pay an early termination fee, which comes to $400 for the first 90 days. No company would send a legitimate email like that, but people who get those need to call the company's 800 number to verify the email's legitimacy before giving personal information.

It would, in time, but they manage the network as much as they can to prevent it, up to and including higher capacity satellites, as the technology advances and permits it. Back to my original question if hughes.net gets more customers wont that cause more congestion and slower speeds? *I am not a Hughesnet employee or representative. The company doesn't have control over the content of the newsfeed. Not sure if they'd get any better stuff with other newsfeeds, but my guess is, it's unlikely. The way you can influence content is to select something else as your home page. It doesn't have to be Hughesnet at all. " The cancellation fee is $400 for the first 3 months of service, but then gets smaller and smaller (I think it reduces $15 per month). You probably have already done this, but if you haven't, calculate how much you will be paying for the next 12 months, and then see how that compares to the cancellation fee.

From what I've seen here, it can be fairly quick, or it can take a while. Keep in mind the request is between departments and it is probably dependent on many variables. Also, don't count weekends; count only business days. You first posted on Friday and Jay sent the request on Friday. They're off on the weekends, so they will continue this next week. Hopefully they'll have the information by Friday this coming week, but it's not a guarantee.

The number to cancel service is 866-347-3292. If you are still under contract, you will be charged an early termination fee, as per the service agreement (see legal.hughesnet.com). You will also have to return the equipment or be charged an extra fee for that. The company will send you a box and label for the equipment. The service agreement contains information about how to initiate a dispute with the company if you wish to follow that route. *I am not a Hughesnet employee or representative.
