I was going to do the update now, but my system is not working.  My satellite transmit was showing red.  Also had red in diagnostics, I tried to reboot my modem since I haven’t in months.  Reboot didn’t help.  I unplugged the modem for a min and plugged it back in.   It worked for a few minutes then went back to showing a red status.   I switched to my cellphone hotspot to check here for any known problems.  I just switched back to HughesNet connection and it is showing green.     My diagnostics page was cleared when I rebooted the modem.  Since the reboot it shows red Xs for :55 :0 and :5 for uplink everything else is green.  I tried to post a comment here and my connection went out again and shows a red X for :15, :10 shows green.      Is is there a problem with HughesNet or is the problem with my modem itself?      Signal strength shows in high 80s State Code 12.7.2 -- A transmit problem has occurred   Summary Operational State Down   Data Allowance Remaining 35.21 GB   System Status Satellite Receive Status Up   Satellite Transmit Status Down (12.7.2)   LAN Status Up 1G FD   IP Gateway Association State Associating...   TCP Acceleration Down   Web Acceleration Up   Suspension State Not Suspended   Software Download Status Up to date   ... My speeds were better later last night and they seam ok today so far (14-19 mbps).  The slower speeds must have been from congestion.  It was after 12 am when I had the slow speeds last night so I did not think it would be congestion that late.  What do you mean by attempting things to see if it helps?  I rebooted my modem from the System Control Center earlier in the day yesterday so I did not try doing that again, and I did not want to clear the history so tests could be done on the modem.  I will try doing a hard reset if speeds get slow again.  Other than that I dont know of any thing else that I can do.   Testmy.net is not working right now, I am unable to sign in.  When I click sign in it only brings up one white text box and clicking on the box does nothing.  I guess they are having issues with the site, as I tried several browsers and all are the same.  So my speed tests from today probably wont show on my account. 😞  ... From what I understood changing the hours of usage does not stop the updates from downloading.  That just does not let windows automatically restart.  The updates will still be downloaded in the background when the system finds available updates. Then will restart when you are not using the computer.     Also to note, when you change your connection to Metered no updates will be downloaded until you go to Updates and Sercrity and manually click download or go back to Network Settings and turn metered connection back off.   ... You have to realize this outage is with the entire satellite. That’s a lot of people out, which I’m pretty sure a lot are trying to call the number to report, find out what’s going on, or for a fix.  So it will be hard to get through.    With that said, they know there’s an outage engineers are working on getting it resolved. Satellite internet is a more COMPLEX system.  Fixing problems and issues will sometimes take time.     Esp with this current outage. Which is with the satellite  (22,000 miles in space).  It’s not like they can send a technician out to fix it.   Fixes must be done remotely from earth!    ... View more

The router that I use is a WD router which I installed Gargoyle Router firmware it works great to monitor all devices on my network.   I tried DD-WRT but It either didn’t work on my router or they don’t have a Quota limit feature  - I forget which.    The Chromecast I don’t really use anymore.  I mostly used it to play Movies which I had saved on my computer hard drive.  The Chromecast still required an active internet connection to be used to play the Movies from my hard drive.  There might be other programs that can stream them without an internet connection but the main program I found that worked best needed it.   I have since bought a Roku Stick which does not need internet to play the Movies from hard drive.  I have a mini DLNA set up which can be accessed with the Roku.  ... I know the Chromecast along with Roku devices use a lot of data.  As well as any other streaming devices (AppleTV, Smart TVs ect).  I am glad my router firmware has a usage quota feature.  I have my Chromecast and Roku device Quota limits set to 10 MB per month  they use that up in seconds before being cut off completely from internet usage.  ... @Lojowag  There is nothing phone support can / will do.  They are aware of the outage and have the engineers working at finding the issue and getting it resolved.   Calling is useless and a waste of your time.   Just have to wait til it’s back up.    Keep checking the home page for this community for the most recent updates that they can provide.  A mod will probably make a full post about it some time tomorrow giving more details / information.   At this point I assume it’s not even worth making your own post if you haven’t already.  If others say they are back online and your still out then I say make a post so mods can see it and address your issue individually.  ... Now they post an Announcement saying interruption for “SOME” Gen5 customers... it seams more like MOST or ALL Gen5 customers.     I did a search for HughesNet outages and a few sites I looked at show hundreds of reports and customers commenting they have no internet.    Hope the satellite isn’t fried.    This is the second time since I got HughesNet in 2008 where I lost service.  The first time was with my old system which was out for almost a week. ... I have no clue what the Outroute ID codes are.  Is there a list saying what each code means?   I never bothered to look at them and see if mine ever changed because I had no idea what they were for.    Mine is currently showing 4  I am not sure what it normally is or what it should be. ... @C0RR0SIVE  I just tried to watch some videos to see if they loaded.  I tried with out turning off VDS first and was still slow.  I turned off VDS and one song played with out buffering then the next loaded slow and buffered constantly.     I did a speed test before watching the videos which was 28.3 Mbps and after was 25.7 Mbps.  These speeds should have no problem loading and buffering videos esp at low quality.   ... If you want the graph to only show your service plan data (and not the bonus zone data) you can click the “Hide Graph” link under Bonus Zone.  This will still show Data Tokens I imagine (I have no Tokens added on my account).   It would be nice if they add a Show / Hide Graph link for each group individually, then the Data Tokens amount can be removed from the graph and show only the Service Data remaining.     Like others are saying, you have to watch what day you have selected for the amounts to show your most recent data.  Take note to the date shown at the top of the graph (it’s in large print its hard to miss)  which indicates the date you have selected (Hovered Over).  So from what it looks the two screen shots are from two different dates, or you have different dates selected, making the data shown different. ... My performance is also still horrible.   At 3 am Eastern I tried to watch some YouTube videos and the videos would take forever to load.  After they started playing the video would buffer multiple times.   This was even at lowest quality (144 p).   I did a speed test after watching a few videos, testmy.net showed speed of 24.4 Mbps.  Just did another which showed 27.9 Mbps  Why are videos taking forever to load and constantly buffering if the speed tests are decent?    I am really unsatisfied with the Gen5 service.  I hope something gets figured out and fixed soon.   The first few months were great (even throttled I was able to play YouTube videos with no buffering) now I barely use it for much.  I rather use my cellphone hotspot but that’s only 8 GB total per month.      ... Update... It is now working...      I looked at my modem after posting and the Transmit light was flashing slowly and  system light was not lite.   I unplugged the modem for a few seconds and plugged it back in... not sure if that fixed the problem or if the update finished on its own finally.    I just did some  speed tests and over WiFi with my own router my speed is averaging 30 mbps (I'm on Bonus Bytes so have full speed)  I don't think I've ever had 30 mbps with WiFi.  I always get slower speeds with the router / firmware I have ... which I thought is something I'd have to deal with.  The speeds were always decent so nothing to complain about.  ...
