That sounds like the radio on the dish could be fried and drawing too much current. You'll probably need a tech to come out and may be Monday before Brooke replies.

Have to agree, sure sounds like complaint should be with whatever company offered the bundle, not HughesNet directly. Most one of the mods here might be able to do is check into the reseller to see if they are an authorized sales outlet and investigate their practices. Would need to know who sold the bundle. Also being a third party seller their may be no recording of the sales call and then becomes a "he said, she said" situation.

Fake news! Fake News! Or you must be a HughesNet employee, as no real customers are satisfied with the service. Seriously though, thanks for such a detailed post on your experience about how satellite can work if willing to make some adjustments and taking the time to learn how things work. Bravo! So few positive things get posted here. We've had the service for about 14 years now and there have been a few bumps along the way but it has served us well over the vast majority of that time.

@GweRDSKNS, be sure to run the manual tests using 25 MB size for download and 4 MB for upload in order to get help from the official mods here and for them to pass it to engineering. I see you have started running them lately at those sizes. Also try to run some at more varied times of day, not just late afternoon/evening if possible. It does look like your morning speeds are better. That said, it does appear your speeds are below what they should be from your test history. For the first 20 days new customers get basically unlimited allowance to update devices and such, the meters will reset daily. After that, they will start working normally. Be sure to check the meters daily though so you don't get caught unaware when the usage starts counting. You should have gotten an email explaining this but I'm sure many people miss it. And yea, you really need to get things under control as your data won't last long at all with use like that when metering kicks in.

All depends. Are on Gen 4 or Gen 5 plan? If Gen 5 plan already, they most likely will not re-aim you unless there is some kind of benefit to you and the system, like increased speed and satellite/beam balancing. If Gen 4 plan, they may re-aim to 19 if you upgrade to Gen 5 plan but again depending on benefits to system and performance. What kind of speeds are getting now?

Just my opinion but it seems Apple is shooting themselves in the foot with their restrictions on software. Both Android and Windows are way more open and just being able to say you have an Iphone is losing its glamor. I know several people who've converted to Android phones lately. Sorry, really nothing to do with original question. Hard to hold one's tongue sometimes.

OK, wasn't sure what you were looking for. Sadly many things are not available for downloading and watching later. Will probably change eventually but right now very limited. Netflix does now offer some things to be downloaded but very limited. Not sure about other sites. I do think things will change sooner than later as companies want to make money. Being able to download content for later viewing is a money maker, they just haven't figured it out yet.

Legally you must use pay sites like Netflix and Hulu for movies and older TV shows. For current TV shows you have to use the provider site which often doesn't allow it unless a satellite TV subscriber. You're not going to get any non-legal pointers here.

" If connecting through the WiFi router your ISP provides to the Internet then you are using your data, as in the HughesNet satellite data. WiFi is not the Internet, the connection to the Internet is, your ISP. HughesNet is your ISP. WiFi is only a connection technology between devices. HughesNet is an ISP which connects you to the Internet. EDIT: I'm a bit shocked a person does not understand the difference between WiFi and Internet connection and how they interact but is the world we live in.

The HT2000W router side should act like any other router. You set each device to have just local network access within Windows 10, no Internet access. All depends on how you setup the devices you don't want to have Internet access. Might want to post under the Third Party Products topic if wanting further info on setting up your local network under Windows 10. Local networking can get into the weeds in many cases and not a host ISP issue.
