There are no acceptable excuses. Hughes is totally mismanaged. Customers coming from dial-up were greatful for Hughesnet. We are decades away from that era. We expect more. We are charged for more. It is advertised that we will get more. FALSE! Yet we are told to understand and hang on. How can we when they keep advertising for MORE CUSTOMERS? They can't handle the customers that they have.

Are we supposed to be complacent about the current horrible download speeds while watching ads for more Gen5 customers? Apparently Hughes is just acting irresponsibly for gains in more and more customers that go thru the time and effort and expense to sign on and then experience extreme lack of service. I, for one, am extremely angry about the ads. Sure, lure more customers and make them agree to a 2 year service, then give them sub-standard service. Go ahead Hughes. Keep advertising your fast speeds. False advertising at the very least. Once you dupe people into the 2 year service, you are golden. They realize what you are doing and want out and you say "OK, pay us $400 and you can cancel. Also, another excuse is that there is high useage and therefore slower speeds. Unacceptable! Shouldn't you have safe guards in place to insure consistent service no matter what time of day it is? You seem to be a service that has not placed the customers satisfaction first. You want our money and make excuses for your idiosy and greed.

First question asked about hidden network. After thinking about it I asked 2 more questions. I do not believe that Hughesnet is being transparent. I do not buy that they can do what they want and we have no choice. When members ask specifically about the "Hidden Network" no explaination is given. The "supposed experts" on this forum also have no answers as to the "hidden network". They chose to attack members wanting to know what is going on. WHY? I'll just leave it at that.....

Y'all can have your fun and clueless banter, however, I have completely turned off ALL wifi from the Gen5 modem and am using my Asus router exclusively. It is a problem when asking Hughesnet about changes that are seen and no explanation has been made. It is also a problem when "so-called" experts are rude and condesending to members asking or stating concerns. I choose to be cautious rather than be naive. Also, the rude responses are not expected from members that are supposedly knowledgeable. When tempted to be mean, log off.

No, I do not see your point. We were not notified that there would be an update that would give us an Hidden Network. It just showed up out of nowhere, no explaination at all. Then when discovered and questioned, nebulis answers. Cyber security is scarey and I need to knpw exactly what Hughesnet is doing to my account. PERIOD.

I don't know, it still seems odd to me. Having something on my account that I cannot access. Who then, can access the Hidden Network? An explanation of what such future plans entail is needed. What can this Hidden network access? It is on my account. Can it monitor the other wifi connections? Can it do what ever Hughesnet wants without the ability for me to know what it is doing? I don't want to be a nuisance or be picky, however, a much better explaination is owed to us, the customers, and, an option to opt out if we so desire. Without an adequate explanation of the purpose, it seems a bit shady to me. Hughesnet, explain your intensions with the Hidden Network. We deserve to know.

This is probebly crazy, but I'll ask anyway. Is the Gen5 modem-wifi creating a hidden network? I've been noticing it every time that I turn on wifi on my Wondows 10 Surface Pro 3. When I unplug the modem-wifi and use my ASUS router, it doesn't show up. It is only there when using Gen5 modem-wifi. It comes in super strong at same level as Gen5 wifi. My neighbor's router comes in at one bar. Any ideas?

It worked perfectly with Gen4. Therefore, it should work perfectly with Gen5. We should not have to make adjustments that will effect everything just so the meter will work.

I am not happy with the way the auto pay system is set up either. I get an email stating my bill is due in five days, so I look at my account. The current bill is not there. The bill only shows up after they take my money. This month I was over charged $100.00. They cannot submit a refund to my card, I have to wait until next month's bill is credited. I still have to pay my credit card bill the extra $100.00. This is the pits!

bkeeper, What plan and modem do you have now? How much are you paying now? Did you call HughesNet to find out if they can give you a deal? I called them and got a really good deal as far as the new modem for Gen5. I am on the 20/50 plan which is $49.99 for the first year. After that it goes to $69.99. My plan under Gen4 was $79.99 for 15/50. It is clear that your speed is not going to change for quite a while.

I have experimented with it and changed it up from 100% and I get to 175% and it's OK. At 200% it goes back to blank, so I went down to 175% and nothing, 150% nothing, 125% nothing, 100% nothing.
