SMH... Not my website. You have stated that you signed up to Gen5 with the 20GB Promotional Plan in May, that means the price of the service plan is $49.99 till May of next year, after that it becomes $69.99 The HT2000w Lease Fee is another $15 per month. You have stated, "my bill was for $67.26 for August 2, 2017" $49.99 + $15.00 = $64.99 which sounds about right, which means you ARE in fact getting your $20 promotional price. $69.99 - $20.00 = $49.99 There are also taxes that get charged which as I have stated, varies from location to location. When you are told, "Hey, you can get this for THIS many months" you are being told, "hey, your price will change after that term". Hughes has already informed you if getting a PROMOTIONAL DEAL that the price isn't locked in forever. The Gen5 prices have not once changed, only promotional prices for new customers. You are still getting your current promotional price, otherwise you would be paying approximately $84.99 (Service plan + lease fees + taxes). You admit you knew it was a promotional term, you also admit you know what the promo price is for your account, which means you've been notified 12 months in advance. Sorry, but you aren't getting out of contract because you think you aren't getting your promotional pricing when you infact are. You also wont be getting out of contract because you think they haven't told you prices have changed, because the prices haven't changed. Now, lets cover another aspect of your topic, you are bound by arbitration, which means any lawyer that says "sure, we can sue" is just taking your money only for the courts to reject the case. Federal Appeals courts have already upheld that arbitration is a legal clause. As far as contacting the B.B.B, you will get the same responses there as you do from the community moderators, they will just take longer.

@Fedup101 The promotional periods for Gen5 on the normal Hughesnet website is meant for new customers only, existing customers that upgrade will have different promotions and prices. That aside, the cheapest plan, 10GB, is $49.99 + Modem Lease + Taxes, and has been that way since launch. The 20GB plan regular price is $69.99, if you signed up for that in May, at best it would go to $49.99 + Modem Lease + Taxes for 12 months. Not sure how you figure your bill would only be $47 though. The 10GB plan also never had a promotional period. The 20GB plan did have a promotional period to get it for $49.99/m for 12 months, which it sounds like to me, you're still recieving, since you aren't paying $75~, nor ~$85 Base 10GB Plan or Old 20GB Promo Plan $49.99 Modem Lease: $15.00/month Taxes: ??? (Varies for each area) Total: $65 - $70 depending on the taxes during the promotional term. Total: ~$85 at the end of the 20GB promotional term Hughesnet isn't obligated to send a written notice once promotional offers expire either, they are promotional, and last only so long which you obviously knew about, so that clause has no effect here IMO, you are told X months on the call, and from what you have stated, you seem to still be paying the promotional price if you are on the 20GB plan. If you are having issues with Netflix play back, you might want to make sure Netflix is set to Auto if possible, or turn the Video Data Saver option OFF, as this will cause buffering if you're trying to watch 720p or 1080p video.

I wouldn't recomend use of the Chrome Data Saver feature in the browser, for a few reasons. The way it works in chrome is that you start using a proxy server. Your browser sends to the proxy that it wants a website, the proxy then grabs that website, loads it all into a bundle and compresses it, then sends it to your Chrome browser. Much like how Web Acceleration with Hughesnet works. However, that system fails if you are requesting an HTTPS website, and will load "normally". Most websites now, use a secure connection method. To top it off, you may actually use MORE data when visiting non-secure websites if you use both Web Acceleration on Hughesnet and the Chrome Data Saver feature. The feature in Chrome is the same as Web Acceleration up to a point You can't compress what is already compressed Going through multiple proxies means there's extra data being sent and recieved, as all proxies must know where information is going to, and coming from, so it can be forwarded. HTTPS doesn't work with compression technologies - most websites are now HTTPS. If you are wanting to save data, I suggest using an adblocker, as well as something that will stop autoplaying videos from playing or loading. I am not aware of how Safari works (latest versions seem to be Mac only??), so you may have to look at Apple specific websites for more information on how to do this.

There is technically no 30 day cancelation period anymore with Hughesnet... They got rid of that clause in the user contract several years ago.

@lake_woman We honestly can't give anymore than what we already know with out taking wild guesses which may or may not be true. Hughesnet will tell us what it's there for, if, and when, they decide to enable the use of the network. They have traditionally been more transparent than other internet providers in the past, however before new products come to market, they remain tight lipped about things.

I was browsing the legal site for some information for business class, but, couldn't find what I was looking for exactly. I went under Business Members, then to Fair Access Policy, but what is listed there is for Residential subscribers (the link is the exact same as residential...), and the title of the page in chrome says Gen4 as well, even though it's the Gen5 FAP.... There is no information about Business Class service in regards to the Fair Access Policy, the hours are different, as are the plans...

@hsistrunk Service is broken into two different buckets, it sounds like you are on Business35, which has a 10GB Anytime and a 25GB Daytime bucket. Your Daytime Bytes will be used between 8AM and 6:00PM. Your Anytime Bytes will be used any other hour of the day.

@lake_woman While you may dislike that there is a "hidden" network (it's only named that because the devices you are using don't know the name, it's not actually hidden), it doesn't harm you having it there in the slightest. If you want to be notified of future changes, I suggest becoming a major stakeholder in Echostar, then you will be notified of future changes. The network in question is secure The network in question has no SSID visible, only devices that know the SSID could begin a connection. The network in question is most likely using a passphrase that no one could guess, nor crack, and that's if they could first figure out the SSID The network in question doesn't change your service in the slightest, it's not part of your "account". The simple truth is, it's there, for future uses, if Hughesnet really wanted to spy on you, they wouldn't do it in any manor that you could detect, nor never know. They haven't made a change to your account, they have made a change to the modem, a change that removes absolutely nothing from your service.

Just an FYI... The Fallback version, will be what ever version is considered "Stable" during the modems manufacturing and first programming. That way the modem always has the latest possible code during shipment, and doesn't have to make a massive jump update wise when it gets to a customer. Would be unwise to jump from version 1.0 to lets say, version 3.4 suddenly. Sometimes that breaks things. 🙂

The 30 day cancelation period was moved some time ago, before Gen5 launched. If you feel you was decieved, and signed up through Hughesnet and not a third party, you may request a sales call review. However, the agent will have to be misleading entirely for Hughes to be able to do anything, and they must have a call on record in their system. They usually maintain calls for 90 days, but, calls may not be recorded if you signed up via a third party reseller.

Hughesnet uses CGN, so while ports aren't blocked, forwarding isn't going to be beneficial, and wont allow you to remotely access a system. You will have to use something like TeamViewer that depends on a middle man server to be able to remotely connect to the client. Also, be prepaired for a rather nasty delay in doing things remotely... I tend to see about a 1 to 2 second delay when using teamviewer. Alternatively, you could connect to her IPv6 address if you also have IPv6, however, this usually doesn't work, and the address changes from time to time.

Have you tried disabling WAS to see if that helps any? Please follow the directions below to disable Web-Acceleration. 1: Visit http://192.168.0.1 in your web-browser. 2: Click the "i" icon at the top of the HT1100/2000w System Control Center (also known as the SCC). It is highlighted in red in the image below. 3: Click on "Web Acceleration" then "Control" outlined in red. 4: Click on "Web Acceleration Enabled", this will change to an orange button that says "Web Acceleration Disabled". 5: Restart your browser and try using the service that isn't working, please let us know how that works for you.

Sorry, but that's not going to happen. The hidden network does nothing currently aside from broadcast. If you don't like it, you can disable the wifi on your HT2000w entirely and use your own wifi access point. What you are asking is almost like when the HT1000 was replaced with the HT1100 if the unit failed, the HT1100 had a new potential feature which was a USB port, yeup, end those contracts over nothing! lol That aside, Hughesnet conforms to all F.C.C requirements, otherwise there wouldn't be, ya know, an F.C.C sticker on the unit. BTW, Pro-tip, electromagnetic hypersensitivity is not a medical diagnosis, it's a self diagnosis, meaning it's not recognized by anyone, including the F.C.C. If you knew how many signals passed through your body, you would realize that much. Your electrical meter? Most likely part of a mesh wifi network. Your local TV stations? So far, I think you are one of the only ones to have reported the issue... @Liz may need to do diagnostics and see what she can do on her end since it seems to be on Hughes end if WAS being disabled makes it easier to access Amazon.

If it was that simple for any small company (lets face it, Hughes is small on the consumer market side of things) to get on a whitelist, then much larger data centers (think, DPS/VPS providers and similar) could get on as well, which doesn't usually happen.

I personally am not having issues aside from them not showing Hughesnet when using WAS... Do you get any invalid password errors or anything? Have you tried to disable WAS to see if the issue persists? Dryers use both 120 and 240v... Half the outlet is 120v, and it uses that half for some of the electronics, and uses the 240v for the heating element.

@bill426 Those speeds are rather slow, however you really should try to use the 12MB download package to test your speeds, as well as do the speedtests while logged into an account on testmy.net If you need to view detailed instructions on how Hughesnet would like the tests done, then please visit - http://customer.kb.hughesnet.com/Pages/7001.aspx That aside, I am not sure there's much that Hughes can do if anything with you being on a Gen4 system, the satellite (Echostar 17/Jupiter One) was already beyond capacity a good long while back and Gen5 (Echostar 19/Jupiter Two) only came online about 4ish months ago.
