The xbox issues are probably the same as the PS4 issues...  They may be tied to something else, but right now it's probably best to treat the two as seperate issues. The Xbox issue is dealing with MTU and connectivity...  Sounds like this PS4 issue is more NAT related.  Granted, both consoles may be mistaking the same issue as different things.  It sounds like in this case though, the PS4 is at least able to connect. ... Don't get spoiled or spoil the kiddos during a reset period. Those coming from Gen3 to Gen4/5 will get 20 days of resets.  Those coming from Gen4, unless they get a new SAN, will not get daily resets. Anyways, yeah, Gen5 use the 25MB download package, and the 3 or 4MB upload package if testing that. As for website issues, yeup, I have experienced odd slowdowns when opening websites, but have only experienced it when Web-Accel is on.  I suspect Gen5 is more popular than expected and those servers take a good beating once in awhile thus causing page hangs and other abnormalities. Gen4 had similar launch issues early on in its life, after a month or two everything was good to go for most everyone till the congestion started to take a toll on it. The signal strength number from HN9000 to HT1xxx and HT2xxx series equipment is a good bit different.  A signal of 100 is similar to 180 or so on Spaceway3 from what I have experienced. As for the ground wire, nope, none on my radio.  Most of the static build up issue is on the reflector, and the outer shield of the coax is a ground as is, so the radio does eventually get to ground (at the ground block), which should have a ground wire going off to a ground rod or copper water pipe. ... Typically people use either an NVR (Network Video Recorder) or DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and all cameras send the video to that device... That device would typically be the central device to access to see the cameras. From the sounds of things, your cameras are all IP-Cameras and aren't being recorded by anything like an NVR or DVR? That aside, you would need to use something like DynDNS or no-ip to access easily (by a url), but, unless that camera can run the software to tell those services the IPv6 address it's using, you will have to manually update the DNS entry each and every time it changes.  With IPv6, each device gets it's own unique public IP address, very different from how IPv4 worked...  So the IP a computer reports to those services, is going to have a different IPv6 address than what your camera would have. Earlier when I stated recording software, many people that have multiple cameras in a house tend to use something like BlueIris on a computer to record what all their cameras see, if using BlueIris, one could in theory connect to the computer via IPv6, and the computer keep the IPv6 address on no-ip updated, and still be able to view the cameras. @Liz do you know if Hughes ever plans to offer Static IPv6 addressing to residential customers, like they did with IPv4 on Spaceway3 long ago?  That would solve half the headache that some users like jcope have... ... The Hughesnet Jupiter network (Gen4 and Gen5) don't have public facing IPv4 addresses, so the typical dynamic DNS service like noip.org won't work in a traditional manor. The device you are using to remote access the Hughesnet service will need to have an IPv6 address, and the camera system will also need to be able to support IPv6 and should be directly connected to the HT2000w.  Once you have confirmed that the camera system is IPv6 capable, you should be able to remotely access it using the IPv6 the modem gives your cameras.  However, I don't think your camera system would support something like noip.org running on the device (unless your using a computer with recording software so you can load the software that updates noip.org), and will have to take note of what your camera system IPv6 address is. In a nutshell, everything must support IPv6 for it to work, and your IPv6 address can change at any time. For the most part, coax doesn't really do bad... The ends may need to be reterminated, but a new run wouldn't be needed.  Installers don't carry the dual coax anymore either unless it's a business install that requires a 9000 unit.  With you being an upgrade, they will re-use your current mounting, and cables, and just clip one of the coax off at the ends.  Echostar-19 is very close to where Spaceway3 was, so pointing shouldn't be an issue. ... To be honest... The Gen4 SmartBrowse, and Gen5 FAP are essentially the same thing...  I strangely, have never had my meter show SmartBrowse in any state what so ever, even though I have smartbrowse.  I suspect we wont see the term "SmartBrowsing" used for much longer since if a Gen4 user wants a larger or smaller bucket they kind of have to upgrade to a Gen5 service plan. ... Probably not wise to have the dish THAT high in the air... They do catch a lot of wind, as it's bigger than a typical satellite tv dish. So far, for the most part, I am enjoying the Gen5 service, but, I don't use the wifi on the modem unless I am testing stuff, so I can't really comment on that aspect of the service. As far as signal goes... IMO, as long as the system passes OVT then it's good, but on a good clear day at both your location, and the gateway location, you should see 100+ on the signal. Only requires he open his device manager, right click that field, and click enable. Game Name: Diablo III Reaper of Souls Platform: PC Genre of Game: Fantasy/RPG Works: Yes Recomended for Gen5/Satnet: Yes Notes: This is one of the few games where high latency doesn't always matter, but a smooth and consistent latency does. With Hughesnet Gen5, the latency is lower than what Gen4 ever offered, and much more consistent. I have no issues playing in rifts, greater rifts, or playing with other players. The only downside is, due to the normal latency of satellite internet, I will not be able to get into the higher rankings that some players can get to, however this doesn't detract from the fact that it's still an enjoyable experience for the occasional gamer. Game Name: StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void Platform: PC Genre of Game: Sci-Fi/RTS (Real Time Strategy) Works: Yes Recomended for Gen5/Satnet: No Notes: While the game is playable on Hughesnet, I find that playing against other players in a competitive match up isn't enjoyable. Starcraft II being more dependent on a lower latency makes it impossible to "macro" your units in an army in time to help combat other players. I have also found that when browsing the maps, it can take several minutes for the map database to load. However, playing on a LAN with other players, or verses the AI, is greatly enjoyable once I have located a map that I want to play on. So for those looking for a competitive game against others, this may not be for you, but for those that enjoy an RTS against a computer AI, or against a real life buddy, it's certainly playable on Hughesnet.   Game Name: Borderlands Platform: PC/Steam Genre of Game: FPS Works: No Recomended for Gen5/Satnet: No Notes: I can connect to friends, but playing is an absolute resounding no with this style of game. While playing, friends always saw me jump from one spot to another, and I had difficulties actually killing anything with out wasting all my ammunition as the latency causes delays in me seeing where others are. Avoid playing this online with Satellite Internet in general.   Game Name: Don't Starve Together Platform: PC/Steam Genre of Game: Survival RPG Works: Yes Recomended for Gen5/Satnet: Yes Notes: I don't get to touch this game much, but in the short time I have played it with friends, I have found the game works OK.
