From the looks of things that wireless adapter only supports WPA and WPA2 with TKIP+AES and not WPA2-AES... You may want to try changing the wifi settings on the HT2000w to see if it works better... 1: Visit http://www.systemcontrolcenter.com in your browser. 2: Click Wifi Settings. 3: Enter in the router password, by default it is "admin" with out the quotations. 4: Change the WPA Mode to WPA/WPA2 - this should cause the cipher suite to change to TKIP-AES. If you have issues with your other devices afterwards, you may need to tell them to forget the old network setting and reconnect them. If devices can no longer see the 2.4Ghz band, you will have to change back to WPA2 and find a better wifi adapter that supports WPA2-AES

I have seen a few other complaints about that error code, could be bad weather at the gateway. I think one of the gateways (might be your assignment) is getting covered in a pretty good snow-storm right now, and another gateway is in the middle of a storm it self. If service isn't back with in the next 30 minutes, you might want to call customer support and report the outage. It's mostly wifi tools like Wifi Analyzer on Android devices I use. Don't have any laptops or anything that I can really put stuff on at the moment. How does nmap determine who makes what? Surely it's just going based upon MAC addressing? Here is what I can find from the F.C.C. filings... Qualcomm QCA9882-BR4A - AC Wifi Qualcomm QCA8337-AL3C - 7 port switch Qualcomm QCA9563-AL3A - BGN Wifi Looks like they used some off the shelf components, but they don't appear to be too cheap. The AC controller alone, if Hughes ordered 150,000 units of it would be about $8.50 per chip, that's just the chip. That's not counting any of the supporting components, nor engineering that was required to interface that chip with the SoC and Switch that was used. All in all, each of these units do cost a good bit more than the old units.

Hrm, various software packages I use report the MAC associated with my wifi radios is Hughesnet... It's possible nmap hasn't updated the list of MAC addresses and who owns them.

I think the system only treats new Jupiter based installs that way... Don't think upgrades from Jupiter One to Jupiter Two would get the initial 20 day reset... I assume your HT2000w SAN is the same as your Jupiter One SAN?

From the looks of things, it's actually going to be more expensive than you think... Looks like Hughes contracted a company (going by F.C.C. documents here...) to design the wireless radios, antennas, and other components of the router side of the modem. Which means that some serious money was dumped into R&D on just a few aspects of it... Sorry, but Hughes isn't using off the shelf components in this.

Not much we can really do about it since the modem has to handle all sorts of things dealing with satellite communications and the only Jupiter II compatible one happens to be the more expensive one.

Not for Jupiter II, though they may later on offer the HT1100 modem on Jupiter One with Gen5 plans, but I suspect that is unlikely.

Kenosabe, I am sorry to hear about the loss of life in your family... I am sure that @Liz wouldn't mind sending a technician out to retrieve the radio and modem but I am unsure on what, if anything, might be charged for doing so. It normally is a $125 or $150 fee to send a technician out to retrieve the equipment. But, it is stated in the contract that the subscriber is responsible for retrieving and returning the radio, and modem, otherwise a fee will be issued due to unreturned equipment. It is also stated if you can't retrieve the equipment that Hughesnet can send a technician out for a service fee to do the job. The 5Ghz radio has no impact on the 2.4Ghz band, and doesn't increase security by disabling it to be honest. I would leave it on personally, as I instruct guests that come to my house to use the 5Ghz band if their device supports it, as it keeps them off the 2.4Ghz band that I frequently use.

Congrats on being able to get connected! Please remember my earlier statement though in regards to having multiple wifi routers in use in the same area. It is best practice to disable one or the other, or at a minimum, change the channel they operate on so they don't conflict as much.

GailWasiskiMile, If you look at the back of the HT2000W, you will see a sticker that lists the name of both Wifi networks on your modem, as well as the passwords for each network. Have you tried using that information to connect? It's also possible that the technician disabled the HT2000W wifi since you had a system available... Having two wireless devices present with in the same area can cause signal conflicts. If the radios are disabled, you can re-enable them by following the following instructions. 1: Go to http://systemcontrolcenter.com OR http://192.168.0.1 2: Click on Wifi Settings 3: You will need to enter the password, by default it is admin 4: Click on each wifi setting and make sure the SSID Enable is checked to enable the radio, then click save settings. Ricky, have you tried to use Windows Update to see if the computer could find a generic driver online to use? It's a long shot, but sometimes Win7 and Win10 drivers will work on Win 8.1. Yes, it can be disabled... System performance will not be impacted, but your modem will log a statecode indicating that the wifi is disabled. First go to your modem at http://systemcontrolcenter.com or http://192.168.0.1 then click Wifi Settings You will then be asked to enter a password, by default it is "admin" with out the quotations. Once logged in, select a wifi network. Then uncheck SSID Enable, then click Save Settings.

Just a few things to throw out there... You can upgrade to Gen5 service plans on the HT1100 in the future, however, you will be stuck on Jupiter One, as the HT1100 is NOT Jupiter II compatible. The benefits of getting the HT2000w is being able to be pointed at Jupiter II or Jupiter One, as well as having wifi, it also has more RAM than the HT1100 and from my perspective is far beefier. I personally at this point, don't see the reason in disabling the HT2000w wifi unless you have a method of measuring traffic on your network through your current wifi router. The HT2000w wifi is very similar in performance to a Netgear Nighthawk. At about 75 foot from both devices, I saw very similar signal strengths between both units. The Scott Home 5Ghz band was only stronger because I had increased the output power in the firmware since I had a few dead spots. This is going through multiple walls.

Just going to throw this out there, legal threats do not work here, what, so, ever. You are bound by arbitration, which your lawyer would inform you is 100% legal as has been seen in many court cases in the past. That aside, name calling is against the community policies and guidelines. As for the issues with accounts, usually to switch from Residential to Business, the Residential account is supposed to be cancelled and upon cancelation, Hughesnet is supposed to send out a box to return the HT1100 modem, and radio back. Why it wasn't cancelled is beyond me.

Those are not legitimate reasons for being let out of contract as the contract states that speeds may be reduced due to network congestion.

You will have to either purchase your new equipment, or pay the lease fee, don't see them giving hardware that costs several hundred to customers for free. As far as plans, you are best off to contact sales regarding upgrades and see what you can get.
