New Gen 5 owner in Northern California (slow as molasses)
Hi, new Gen 5 owner in Northern Calfornia, near Sacramento up in the foothills. Service installed yesterday. Slow very slow speeds. Called tech support at Hughes today and they said they will escalate the call to engineering which means another 2 to 3 business days before I get help. Kind of stinks since it was just installed yesterday. Anyway, last speed test I ran was 1.1Mbps down. Sheesh. Went through over an hour call with Hughes today running tests and such just to prove I am getting slow speeds. Then told have to wait until next week to get it looked at. http://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=09292017&x=2&l=25&q=macsociety In case this can help.... I am pointed at: Satellite NameEchoStar-19-NAD Gateway ID8 Beam ID55 Outroute ID7 Thanks for the ear. ThomasSolved94KViews2likes296CommentsI cannot use the on demand channels on my dish tv
I had dish and hughesnet internet bundle installed in early September and have not been able to use the on demand feature because it keeps stopping to buffer every three minutes, or less. I have been on the phone with both Dish and Hughesnet a dozen times but they keep passing the buck or ignoring me. I spoke to a local installer who said he would have to talk to his office and call me back, but he never called. The last rep I spoke with at Hughesnet said the problem was with my tv. Because it wasnt connected wirelessly. Im so frustrated and unhappy with this situation. If it's just the case that Hughes net doesnt work like they promise it will then someone should just tell me that and let me out. I'm paying wat too much for this bundle to only get 75% of it especially since the feature I most want to use is the one that doesnt work.Solved28KViews0likes6CommentsHelp Please – Download Speed < 8 Mbps on Gen5 for WEEKS
Well I’m back again – fora few days my download speeds had recovered to normal (15-30 Mbps), but now I am back to less than 8 Mbps. My "work day" download speeds are now generally less than 8 Mbps and often around 1 Mbps! Early mornings and very late evenings speeds can be as high as 30, but I don’t work at night or before 8AM. Simple, low resolution, 5 minute, YouTube videos take 10-15 minutes to watch. This has been going on since January 3d. Here is what I have done to chase this problem down: Rebooted modem and checked speed = no change Powered off modem for 10 minutes = no change Repeated above wired directly to my modem (HT2000W) = no change I have run 90 download speed tests using testmy.net since January 3d and my average speed is 8.18 Mbps! You can see my test results at https://testmy.net/quickstats/stanleytpig I contacted Hughesnet support via chat on January 3d (Lulu Carette, case number 108575566), checked everything I was told to check, did everything I was told to do, the chat took over an hour after which timeI was told that I would be raised to engineering level support and that I would receive a call within 72 hours. I remaind at home avaliable 24 hours a day for SEVEN DAYS and did not recieve a call duing that time. Over two weeks later I received a call back, butI was not home and the caller left a call back number. I called back the next day only to fine that the “call in code” had expired and I could not speak to anyone. I have also tried the speed tests on the Hughesnet website which yielded very weird results, like taking 3-4 minutes to download the 12 meg file and speed results given are > 200 Mbps! Not possible! Web speed tests range from around 1 to 4 seconds – mostly greater than 2 seconds My system is: Gen5 (EcoStar-19-NAD); Gateway ID 15; Beam ID 71; Satellite Receive Signal Strength 99, modem HT2000W, two Windows 10 PCs (wireless and/or ethernet); 30/50 Meg plan that costs $87/per month. I have been with Hughes since 2001 – that’s 17 years and I have literally done everything that I can think of to make system work as advertised (e.g., highspeed internet and at least 60% of the advertised 25 Mbps, or 15 Mbps and 8 Mbps is not even close). It would be really nice if someone could fix this problem – perhaps one of those talented techs like Liz or Amanda could be cajoled into looking into my problem – I would greatly appreciate it. I have been having issues with Hughes net since I had it installed in December of 2018. Slow Internet, Facebook will partially load then the pictures and videos will start loading one by one and you have to wait for it to load more so you can keep scrolling down the page. You-tube buffers constantly even with data saver turnedoff and resolution as low as it will go. E-mail will time out and reload the same messages several times if there are any large attachments. It's extremely difficultto participatein on-line college classes. This happens with all my devices, Wired desktop, laptops, mobile phones. Normally I keep Wifi turned off. Speedtest shows my download speed mostly between 20 and 60 Mbps and my upload speed was 2.1 Mbps when I last checked. I have called tech support numeroustimes when I have been having problems and they had a service tech come out this past week and he couldn't find anything wrong, All he did was take a few pictures of the dish, checked the coax connections and connected into my wifi with his phone to run some checks then told me everything looked fine and he didn't know what else to do. I am to the point now that if I want to watch something on You-tube I just use my mobile data. Most of the time the weather is clear when I am having problems and it happens during different times of the day and night. I also have not been out of data. LAN Throughput is ***** 96.56 Mbps Satellite Receive Signal Strength 104 https://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=03232019&x=90&l=50&q=KF4IPCSolved16KViews0likes31Comments- 15KViews0likes7Comments
No reliable Internet since install in Dec 2018 and Mods stopped replying to me over a month ago.
No reliable Internet since install in Dec 2018 and Mods stopped replying to me over a month ago. I haven't had a moderator reply to my problem in over a month, Whats the deal? My bill is paid and I still don't have reliable Internet. I am tired of dumping money down the drain and no one is willing to help me sort this out. I have had this problem from day one when I had this installed in December 2018. I had a tech sent out here over a month ago and all he did was check the connections and connect his phone to Netflix for 30 seconds and tell me it was working, How is connecting his phone to my Internetfor less than a minute going to tell him my Internetis working? Last I was told was I was being referredto theHome Tech Support department Free of Chargeand then I was told by HTSit was going cost me around $200 for them to connect to my devices to fix the problem. I shouldn't have to pay to have my Internetfixed when it has never worked from the beginning and besides my devices work fine when they are not connectedto HughesNet. I either want my Internetfixed and get the speeds advertisedor terminate my accountwithout early termination fees.Solved8.9KViews1like6CommentsAny known issue for Northern California today - 66K downloads under FAP
Any other users here in Northern California struggling to even connect and do simple emails or web access. Today, under FAP, I am getting sub 100K downloads. About same for uploads. It is like pulling teeth today!!! Unpluged modem... same. Reception on dish is good, normal 120 or so. Clear nice blue day here today. Best I have seen today is 300K. Most all have been under 100. YES.. under 100K. It is getting really bad. TJSolved8.8KViews0likes20CommentsIntermittent slow internet speeds, HIGH variations, occasionally unusable
I have opened a case with HughesNet and they promptly closed it with a "Everything is fine at the moment" canned message. Called on lunch at work, got a person in India who read from a script, said the same thing, and apparently didn't know the meaning of "Intermittent." Said for me to gather data when it happens again. So it happened again, gathered data, used the email form... "ERROR 404" when I try to send. NOW the internet is sporadically getting better as the night goes on, my window seems to be closing. I was instructed by Sasha Matthews to use TestMy.Net, however I know that you on the forums here state it MIGHT not be the best test. Here are my tests, Regardless: TEST 1, Auto Test: :::.. EDIT #2: Figured this is worth mention. Last Night (January 15th) the internet was barely usable. speedtest.net failed to work with "Latency Error!" showing up. using the legacy site, it took a while, but came up with a ping of ~2,000ms and speed of 0.2mbit and 0.05mbit upload. of COURSE I Didn't save it, like a dummy, but I hope all these tests of it just "Degraded" helps somewhat. I won't be able to even post this if it gets as bad as it was last night. EDIT #3: Checked speedtest.net history, last night doesn't show. Something was REALLY screwy, as it doesn't even recognize ME as the one who tested. However, I did run one on Friday, and it was acting up (Not unusable, but not good), so here is the link to that one: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6958022710 That should show it does get REALLY crap, even with speedtest.net.Solved8.1KViews0likes8CommentsHOLD HUGHESNET ACCOUNTABLE Oklahoma Senate Bill 1514-Amending the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act
