Free hotspots from terrestrial ISP
I haven't used them yet, so I don't know. I would treat them as such, would keep my antivirus updated, etc.

I usually check my parent's email in the morning. They have Xfinity.
Surprise! Can't get to it today. Route is end-to-end Level3, which dies somewhere in Philadelphia.
No one can tell me this isn't a nationwide CenturyLink issue.

Xfinity is having its own issues -- the intertubes are sticky for them too. Hopefully someone, somewhere, will muck out CL.
