Check the front of the modem. How many lights are on, and which ones?
Go to this site, preferably using a LAN cable to connect your computer/laptop to the modem: http://192.168.0.1/#!/home/status
What are the numbers next to State Code?
Note that this page is an internal modem page, not a page out on the Internet, so you don't need an internet connection to access it, but you may need to be connected directly to the modem if it doesn't work through wifi.
