This was a problem on one of the recent versions of Firefox. It was doing something really weird with the version of angular used in the modem. Seems to be fixed in 58.0.x though.

Keeping things relevent to the discussion in Tech Support: Lowering the orbit to 700km still doesn't get you below 100mS. I built a spreadsheet for the J2 calculation. Lowering J2 from 35785km to 700km would still only give me a time-to-internet latency of 112.8mS. It's a vast improvement, but I'm sure LEOs bring other problems such as how to network them effectively at ground stations, how to gain maximum beam coverage, how do you reach polar regions, dealing with power levels, etc. And if reach to Northern locations is an issue from the equator, I don't even want to think about how you would deal with non-geostationary orbits like Sirius does. Certainly an interesting problem. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

All DTV boxes have a media renderers in them. I have one in each of my HR24s. However, they're really for playing things off a media server on your PC to your TV, not the other way around. I use a Plex app on my TV for that because it's a lot more reliable. The HR24s also have media servers for playing shows using the DirecTV app as long as you're on the same home network. It is supposed to work outside your home network if you had a static public IP address, but you likely won't have that unless you have a HughesNet business account. There used to be a desktop application called Supercast that was in beta a long time ago, but it never materialized because there were too many reliability problems. Plus I think there were issues with the copyright protections. I never got it to work anyway.

Glad you're getting what you need done. It's going to drop during peak time, especially with what people are using it for these days - I'm convinced of that every time I hear someone complain they can't do something it really wasn't meant to do. It's not optimum, but it is what it is, and for many of us it's still the only option. As you've seen, I've seen that it's best for me to find a way to do what I can and work/schedule around those limitations. That's a lot better than to try to continually fight something you have no control over and/or look for someone/something to blame - which unfortunately, many have resorted to. Statement of society in general these days I guess.

@Amanda I may have misunderstood the question to be a comparison of capabilities between the iOS and desktop applications. Perhaps I should have responded that the current iOS app does everything the desktop Usage Meter application does wrt to displaying usage donuts, plan status, data token purchase/availability, plan history graph, and video settings; as well as providing a portable wifi strength gauge (really helpful for finding dead spots in the house, imo) and the ability to review billing info. Edit: But as you say, the internal iOS ability to measure data usage wrt wireless vs. wifi data does not exist.

@udanwudeligv Hate to put it this way, but do the math: Suppose you only have 30GB (30,000MB) per month for an average plan. Divide that by worst case 400MB / hour = 75 hours. Divide that by 30.5 days/month = roughly 2.5 hours a day. And that's just for streaming, not software updates or anything else. Not to mention the demand that puts on limited satellite resources. Nine times out of ten, this is where people's data is going when they asked "where'd my data go so fast'? It's thinking you can stream hi-res HD programming and movies, which is >> 400MB/hr.

On the iOS app, the Video Settings are indeed in the menu. If you tap the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left, choose Settings, the Video Settings are the middle option.
