Moving is never a really easy process so I feel for you there. The power supply, modem and radio are not that big so shouldn't be that hard to take them with you though. The system is set up to ship the boxes after the termination date, not sure one of the mods can have them shipped early. If you want them to look into it probably should repost in the Billing and Account section. I have a feeling it is something that is hard locked on the shipping though and you might still not receive it by the 29th even if the process was started by next Monday.

Is funny how as one gets older and the more they've seen, done and experienced, we start to pull away and enjoy the simpler things in life. Our dogs and gardening are giving us more pleasure these days. I still like tech and play with it but not like I used to. This site is my only real tech oriented online indulgence anymore. Hoping the younger tech folks have the same passion my sphere of nerds had back in our prime. Guess the difference is I was in the military with a bunch of electronics tech oriented folks back in my prime years. We fed on each other. Really doesn't seem like tech is "in" right now, more about social status and posting the next viral thing on the Internet. Nothing about actual knowledge and advancement. Did I just do an old man rant? Lol...yes I think I did! Oh, the Raspberry PI is a cool thing BTW.

Wife did a cancer fundraiser back in '88 and cell phones looked like this. She pulled some major strings to even get them to use. Was much more expensive back then for the phones and airtime.

We are regressing when it comes to technology IMO. Hopefully just a pause, I know private companies are trying hard to keep us first in space. Space exploration and technology pushes us forward as humans IMO. I know we have plenty of problems now right here, just like we did when Megellan and Columbus explored the planet and spent large amounts of capital. We need to push forward and outward regardless the things pulling us back.

This is abusive and a scam. Please address the issue asap. The contract is here: http://legal.hughesnet.com/SubAgree-03-16-17.cfm You agree to it when allowing the service ro be installed and activated, also a virtual button on the installer's device you usually have to push accepting the install. Even 15+ years ago getting my AT&T cell phone I didn't actually sign anything, accepting and starting the service was like signing the 2 year contract. You might want to get updated on how contracts work when getting IT service in today's world.

They have no plans on upgrading, either, so you're in good company. 🙂 Yes, myself and many others on Gen 4 Ultra plan are just fine staying put especially at $90/month. We were lucky to get it when offered way back when and offer didn't last long. Personally speed is fine for two users, wife and myself, sometimes 30+ mbps and still fine right now going into prime time. EDIT: The newer modem isn't better IMO unless you're looking for a free WiFi router and don't already have your own router.

Your plan is what it is, 50 GB per month daytime allowance for most people. There is no unlimited plan. Satellite Internet is not meant to be a "cord cutter" service where you can stream as much as you want 24/7. Streaming TV in HD can eat a lot of data very quickly. Only help is to set the resolution to 360p or lower if the streaming allows it. You should consider getting satellite TV service and not rely on satellite Internet for your TV.

If you run out of Bonus data during Bonus time while using it the data will then be drawn from Anytime data if you still have it remaining. It is just as important to monitor Bonus data remaining when using it for this reason. Downloads do not suddenly reduce in speed or stop when out of Bonus bytes as if being in FAP but instead start drawing from Anytime bytes available. How much Bonus data did you have and did you download more than what was available?

Because it is satellite and 200 mbps is unobtainable with only several satellites serving all the customers. Perhaps if you are willing to pay $500/month so they can launch more satellites. Even then it would take years to build and launch them. Satellite internet is not like satellite TV with signals being broadcast in one direction down to the user.

Would like to add that if coming from ground cable internet with latency of 20-50 ms then browsing will seem laggy in general due to the higher latency on satellite. Pages can take a few seconds to load and depending on the content even longer.

Also one reason why I wanted a ground pole mount when my location was changed, much easier access for everyone especially during winter. Unless the site is so surrounded by obstructions that the dish needs the added elevation for good line-of-site then pole mount is the only way to go IMO.

I'll just add "back in the day" when I maintained ATC and Ham frequency radios I saw them interfere with things you never thought they could or should given enough power and proximity. All radios emit some spurious frequencies at multiples of the assigned frequency. Normally at such low levels that it isn't a proble. But attach an amplifier that is poorly designed then those weak spurious signals can become quite strong and even inject into the electronics at the board level on nearby equipment. Not to mention induced into cables. Only saying IMO it is possible for such interference to happen as @lm8542 describes. I'll shutup now.

Depending how much illegal power he's transmitting and the proximity to you, there is no filtering available that will keep the signal from feeding directly into your equipment and causing havoc. If he's truly running illegal amplifiers those things are infamous for producing all kinds of spurious frequency signals across the entire radio spectrum. He's a prime example why Hams in general often get a bad rep. You've got a real problem on your hands IMO. Good luck.
