Poor customer service
The speed of internet is slow so I called customer service to increase speed. The new price is much higher than Xfinity. Then I asked when will my contract expire. I was told after 1 year. So I went back to Xfinity. Now they are telling me about a $220 charge for breaking contract. Hughnet is penalizing me for their customer mistake? Its an unfair practice and absolutely horrific customer service. Do not join Hughnet...speed and custo.er service are extremely poor!

They're not penalising you. If you read the service agreement, you will see that they don't guarantee speeds, and that there is a fine for ending service sooner. The agreement also includes a section explaining the procedure for grievances, which may be helpful to you. By signing up for Hughesnet, you agreed to the terms of the agreement.
A lot of people don't have any other choice for internet, so it's unfair to suggest they don't "join" HN. It's also important to be realistic about the technology -- it is not comparable to terrestrial internet, such as the company you mentioned. It's a different technology and because of its being satellite internet, it is slower and has less data.
If you are done with HN, you should stop posting here. This isn't a review site; it's a site for people seeking solutions. There are lots of sites on the internet where you can post a review of the company and share your experience, and you can warn people as much as you like. This site is not for that -- this site is for account and tech support.
