Back in May I upgraded to gen 5, pretty much when it was available in my area and I understand inital speeds 44.5M would not last long. FF to this month and I'm haiving 2 isuses, 1) is my speeds have drasicaly been reduced - no changes on my end, I have an open ticket with tech support that tells me from the Sat to my model is 44 M still but my speed tests, with windows 10 desktop getting at best 1.7M, wifi tests are about the same. last test was a laptop using the 2g WIFI, it could not see the 5G network, then the same device on the ethernet port. below are my results. can someone address these slowdowns, I cannot stay connected to work any longer due to these terrible connection rates.

HELP
Good morning Carmen,
Regarding Citrix, VPN usage will result in 50-70% slower speeds. After the site visit, test results aside, you found regular web browsing (with VPN off) sluggish still?
Liz, my speed test was performed without being connected to work, and I understand the LAG and the protocol with VPN, been working from home for many years using VPN. once having so many issues, I disconnected from work and used your Hughes net speed test, I posted my results again. tell me why the tech at my house does not use this speed test? he used a site I did not recognize.
I'm working with my tech folks here on the VPN issues, they are always pointing to my ISP saying the speeds are not acceptable, so for now I'm stuck.
I did see another Sat internet provider advertised on TV yesterday, I'm wondering if they are any better? or again back to Verizon for LTE or 5G.
this decision solely based on my needs to support my company from home, so Hughes, Verizon, someone else it does not matter, I just need this fixed.
Hi Carmen,
Thanks for the update. Good news, we've recently gotten authorization to have a tech try a different adjustment at your site. Your dispatch is currently scheduled for our earliest available slot: Wednesday, Feb 7, 2018 between 08:00 AM-11:00 AM. Call us at 866.347.3292 and reference case #109357538 if you need to reschedule. Please let us know how the site visit goes.
OK, thanks again Liz, I'll schedule my work from home day tomorrow, I'll not let him leave until I'm satisfied my speeds look reasonable. I wonder why they did not use the Hughes net speed test? other speed test sites use my data correct? but your test site does not?
thanks

All tests use data, regardless of where they originate from... Last I heard (take this with a very fine grain of salt as I have been MIA for over a month!) was that it's best to test with multiple different speed tests websites a few times, with a few minutes between each and every test to get an idea of how performance is.
today while still connected to my VPN at work , one speed test from hughesnet was 34.1 M
my issue with the speed test site was I understand the hughesnet speed test does NOT take any data allowances, the other sites do

Good morning Carmen,
Is that speed test post site-visit? From what I can tell, the dispatch is still in progress, but I'm sure it will take time to update.
I don't know how much, but the HughesNet speed test also uses data like any other speed test site.
(welcome back C0RR0SIVE, engineers tested tmn recently and have found it OK to use again :))
Hi Liz, that test was pre-visit, I did a test the night before and was getting 1.6M, today while connected to work, I was getting those numbers, today, 2 tests so far 30.1 30.5M, I reconnected to work, and so far, not one disconnect
fingers and toes crossed

so far today no disconnects, I have not re tested speed, but I'm going to go out on a limb it's good enough to stay connected.
my tech support refuses to tweak any VPN settings for Satellite, so I'm depending on the fix to help my issues.
responding to my post to say thank you to Liz for sticking with my issue and helping me out. my tech support at work refuses to tweek Cisco VPN setting for Sat connections, so I hope the last resolution to my issues finally puts this to bed....for a while anyway.
so pointing me to a different Satelitte seem to do the trick, again thanks Liz

I am having the same problems, Upgrade they said, its all better they said, NOT, I dont use it much but when I do I want it to work correctly
I came in with Gen 5 and my speeds are horrible. I did the test for downloading a 2mb file is running 0.64 to 2.00 which to me is HORRIBLE. Am i wrong or not reading these correct?
