I have a Microsoft Surface 2 that worked just fine with Gen 4 service. I "upgraded" to Gen 5 and now I get the message "Can not connect to this network" when I try either the hug2g or hug5g network. Hughesnet tech support was no help and told me to call Microsoft. Was on the phone for 1+ hours but no love there either.
Has anyone else had/solved this issue?

Your device may not support the Wifi Encryption method the HT2000w uses by default, this could be due to the age of the device, or software of the device. In the case of a Wireless adapter for your computer, please make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You can usually download the drivers from the manufacture of your computer, or of the wireless adapter.
To change from the default WPA2 AES encryption method to WPA/WPA2 TKIP+AES mode, please follow the steps below.
1: In your browser go to http://systemcontrolcenter.com or http://192.168.0.1
2: On the left hand side, click on "Wifi Settings"
3: You will be presented with a logon screen, the default password is admin
4: Select either 2.4Ghz, 2.4Ghz Guest, 5Ghz, or 5Ghz Guest, which ever network your device is trying to connect to
5: Select the WPA Mode and set to WPA/WPA2 - the Cipher Suite should change from AES to TKIP+AES
6: Click Save Settings
7: Try to reconnect your device using the proper password for the wifi network.
Tech support told me that some computers are not wired for Gen5. Well got a message on phone that they were sending a new modem. I received it and same thing happens Hug5 comes in on wifi as a guest and will not open with password and ssid. It appears that Hughsnet is trying to make Gen5 look good, so good that I did away with my fronier that had a startup speed of 1 1/2mb. I have to admit that Hughsnet is giving me better startup speed but my phone is horrible. So my cell phone works whereas before no service. This has been a headache that I did not need.

Using the 5Ghz and changing the WPA mode worked for me. Thanks.
