Upgrade from Gen 4 to Gen 5 question

A friend of mine just upgraded from Gen 4 to Gen 5 business. He got a new modem but the dish was not repointed. Should the dish have been repointed for this upgrade to be true Gen 5?

Hi Ricky, both Echostar satellites are now considered Gen 5 satellites including the older one. Frankly, with the problems some of the beams on the newer satellite have been having, your friend is probably better off staying on the older one.

There are, for the most part, no "Gen4" plans available.

Gen5 plans consist of higher "up to" speeds and larger data allowances.

"Gen5" can be served by both the J1 and J2 satellites.

Thank guys! I will let him know tomorrow.
