Speed tests
"My mistake. I thought you were referring to another member who had Gen4, then upgraded to Gen5, and had more than a year's worth of speed tests."
I'm getting confused now, :>)> I had to go back and read my original posts That was was the member in my original post.
LOL! This whole thread is turning into "A Comedy of Errors". Understandable, since both members had handles started with the letter 'v'. I just hope they're not identical twins.
"I was under the impression that the person you are now referring to was a new customer, not only from memory, but due to the 20 days of data resets mentioned, which only new customers, or those upgrading to Gen5 from legacy systems, get."
That's correct. Well, at least I think it is. :>)>
I guess gen4 doesn't qualify as a legacy system. When I upgraded from gen4 to gen5 I certainly didn't get it. I hate it, when a company treats new customers better than old ones. It seems to happen quite often though. A friend of mine who upgraded to gen5 didn't get a break on data either. If his wife finds out about this, she'll be on the phone raising cain until she gets something.
I'm certainly not going to be the one to tell her. :>)>
On 3/13/19 I ran a speed test using speedof.me and had a download speed of 6.7 Mbps. I immediately turned around and did a Hughesnet seed test and the result was 41 Mbps. Upload speeds were similar. Just FYI.

Speedofme and similar apps are not reliable for satellite internet. Please use testmy.net for your speed tests, especially if you need support with speed issues, as testmy.net is required in order to escalate speed issues to corporate engineers.

I just tried that speedof.me. It was WAY off, as verified by networx. I tried it twice before starting networx, and the two tests were very similar. I think 3.6Mbps down and 3.9Mbps down, if I remember correctly. The uploads were 1.8Mbps (I think), 1.9Mbps. I didn't try the upload with testmy.net until just now, so it's not on the networx graph, but it was 2.8Mbps.
While networx was running, speedof.me gave me a result of 4.1Mbps down and 1.9Mbps up, whereas testmy.net gave me a result of 31.1Mbps down. This was with the VDS off, though I don't think it makes a difference with speedof.me.
