My Internet is not working. System and Transmit lights are off on the modem

I can not connect to the internet. The System and Transmit lights are not lighting up on the modem. It has been like this for several days. I hit the reset button on the back of the modem and also powered off and still no luck. My son needs internet to do school work. He started school yesterday and can not do anything at home.
