Service not what I need

I had service installed a week ago tomorrow and has been slow since install. My wife works from home some of the time with a vpn and video conferencing, we have a ps5 we would like to use and we also would like to stream live events. We purchased the elite plan after the sales person told me that would work for us. We haven’t been able to do any of this. Streaming glitches and lags so bad we can’t hardly watch or it freezes completely, PlayStation multiplayer games wont even load other players at all, my wife won’t even try to work from home because it could affect how she performs at her job which is very important to her and me. With speed tests always under 20 mbps. I don’t want to have a constant problem with the internet and service calls and customer service. I think it might be best if we could just send the equipment back and cancel the service and try something different. It is less than a week and has never worked like it should it was described. Help please

You can cancel the agreement by paying the early termination fee of $400. As per the subscriber agreement:

"If you cancel after activation but before the end of your 24-month term commitment, you will be charged a Service Termination Fee of up to $400. The exact amount of the Service Termination Fee will be $400 during the first ninety (90) days after activation of the Hughesnet Service. Thereafter, the amount will decrease by $15 per month for each month of active Service."

Your best bet now is to wait for a Hughesnet representative to reply to your post.  They will work with you to see what may be the issue with your system and how it can be improved.

    Do you have Fusion?

  • Thank you for the reply, I don’t have fusion. I don’t believe it is available in my area. I would gladly get it if it was available and would fix my problem

Without Fusion, the multiplayer games won't work because of the latency inherent in satellite internet.  They're not going to be able to fix that because Fusion isn't available in your area.

Hopefully a rep will reply to you today and start the process of investigating your situation.

        Jrebbec,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the community. Maratsade gave perfect info in regard to cancelation and the latency when playing online games. The inherent latency with satellite internet also affects the VPN usage and live streaming as the ping is too high for both of these to work well. When it comes to your speeds, we can take a look into why your are getting low readings. Please private message me the phone number associated with your account so I can locate you in the system and begin.
