What explnation would there be for not everyone in Beam 55 having the problem? Don't we all have the same software, settings, hardware? When an update is sent out, wouldn't this give all the same settings? ... View more

Alan- my bad the 2 posts are different.Thanks I see when I rebooted the modem , I went from 9Mbs Gateway #3 to less than 1Mbs Gateway#1. This at 7:50 Am 11.17.17 . IO never had Gateway#1 before. it was really slow. I'll reboot again and try another Gateway. Thanks for your info., why some are not having problems, seems strange, I believe the Gateway makes a difference., at least from my data.It's too bad, as Gen5 was so great until almost 2 months ago. I was lied to in order to sign a contract, and my speed was slow from the start. It never got better and I doubt it will for you, either. Good luck getting this company to do anything to fix it. Beam 55- I have the opposite problem- I am sent 2 posts in my emails on the same post.How is this fixed? Also the constant logging in is an inconvience I always have the same IP address. I preferred the old forum format, you could edit posted posts, and your IP address was recognised , so you didn't always have to log on to post.Now,iIf I post in the Am, and again in the afternoon, I have to log on again.   This is small taters compared to the speed problem.Gateway #3 seemed to be better the last day, I didn't have to switch Gateways. ... Beam 55 speeds on 11.13  the usually faster Gateway#5 at 8Pm were painfully slow.. I just noticed I was put on Gateway#3 now , I'll probably have to reboot and move up the Gateway ladder to make Gen5 usable. #3 is ususally the slowest, I imagine the amount of users governs speeds, there must be some auto balanceing going on- when #5 loads up with users, some are shunted to #3, #4. Again I was at a friend's, he is using 4Glte . he was streaming Netflix , and 4 others were streaming music, and others videos, all had good signals, quality. My speed at 9 Am today was bad, Gateway 3 , I rebooted, got Gateway5, and speeds were good all day. Just did a speed test- 2- 43 Mbs files, speeds - 44Mbs, and 32Mbs.. I'm as perplexed as you are. I will FAP in a few days, but I will keep rebooting until I get Gateway 5 , that one is consistantly faster. In my experience looking at the Gateways because of slow speeds, I have noticed #3 usually is a very poor performer, #5 usually is much better,this after a modem reboot. The Outroute remains at #1.   ... View more

I don't think we'll see the speeds we had before. The same happenned with Gen4.   It would be appreciated not to have to log on after a few hours of logging on. It wasn't this way with the old forum. With slow speeds having to wait for the log on is added agravation.   If the problems continue, refunds should be in order, since we can't leave the 2 year contract. Hi Liz:) I noticed that when I have the advertised speed for my tier, the test dwnload is more than 25 mbs. As the speed slows, the dwnloaded file using just the dwnload button , the size of the file decreases. This on Testmy.net.I did perform a test with the dwnload buttion, and the manual , chose 25Mbs., I did have a improvement of 1.7Mbs, still my speed is 2,9 Mbs Far from normal speed., after  modem reboot, the 25Mbs dwnload sped was 2.4 Mbs. Disappointing. Tried reboots( 2) last nite, speeds were 2.4 , but many sites would not load.. When we had 2.4 before the troubles, it worked, now no.. Why would 2.4 Mbs now be worse than 1 Mbs was before the troubles?   It also irks me that I saw Hughes Gen5 ads today. When Gen4 had speed problems, and I saw ads I asked **bleep**? Now with the troubles, I ask **bleep** again.. Hughes should not advertise when it's having problems as it clearly has.. Firefox has a auto play disable, but it only works for some formats. It seems those with limited data, mobile and fixed, ought to be able to disable autoplay. I scroll down quickly, a smaller window appears, that I can close., usually. ... View more

It is a shame, as when Gen5 debued , It was great, now it has troubles, which so far are unresolved. I would think given another month, if the orginal servixce is not restored, subscribers should receive reduced prices, for a reduced service, otherwise, a negative Business report, and Federal Communications complaint would be in order. I don't like to persue this, but with less than advertised, and documented  sub par service after a measurable time, we do have the records, a refund, or other remedy is desirable. Hughes has been very fair to me, Liz and staff exceptional, i don't lay any blame on the support staff, the engineers however need to address the problem, and remedy it. It appears they are learning on the job. We should not pay for this "education"., and reduced prices until the problems are remedies is in order.. Reduced performance translates to reduced pricing. For many, there is 4Glte available, from what I see, it works very well for them, streaming videos and other programming.The prices are equal to a bit higher, the price you pay for dependability. Beam 55 Again slow speeds videos buffering at 6:30 Am , so I rebooted the modem, which changed the IPGW from 4 to 5 . Speeds improved, but not what they should be. In the speed data , the slower speeds are on IPGW 4 , the faster on IPGW 5, still no where the near 30 Mbs or better I used to have at this time of day.. I used to be able to not have video buffering at FAP speed- 2.8 Msa, but now at 4-5 Mbs speeds videos buffering. The performance with slower speeds is markedly worse.   ... View more

Thanks Alan for your info. I start out at 32 Mbs or so around 7 Am, then the service degrades during the day, then at nite I must reboot the modem to get about 3 Mbs, sometimes it doesn't remedy the unusable to slow but usable. I have the 2nd, or 3rd tier plan.- 38 Mbs speed max, I see that early Ams then no more during the day, I use the 44Mbs Testmytest file load.. I just rebooted the modem after 3 - 1Mbs speed results, After the reboot- 16Mbs.. I know it will degrade again, probably have to reboot the modem again about 7 Pm.   I am curious as to your evening speed tests , as mornings for most on Beam 55 is the highest speed, then it consistanly degrades.   What is your take on the problem?   A 200 Mbs test is too long for me, it would take  minutes..   Thanks again 😉 ... Beam 55 Mt Ranch, Ca   Hi Alan , yes I'm having a degradation of service after a great start with Gen5 . I had the advertised for my tier speeds - 30+mbs , with FAP and 2.9 Mbs it was still usable, video streaming as ok ,until 2 weeks ago, as the other subscribers, then it slowly degraded, last nite for a time it was unusable. What hapenned to Beam 55 is the question ? It seems it is getting worse, not better for me, and sporatic from others comments. Hope they figure it out soon.
